I'm on Telegram because a few of the vendors I watch don't have Discord. I'm a middle-aged woman without a whole lot of use for Telegram/What'sApp/Discord/Snapchat/what have you, so I've had no presence on any of those til now.
I was reading the STG telegram the other night, and got a DM from someone with the same first name as my mother. I looked at it, and it just said "hi." I hit block, assuming it was a scammer, and went about my business. It didn't even register as noteworthy.
A few days later, I was video chatting with my mother, who said "Oh, I said hi to you on Telegram the other night, but then you were gone." I was VERY surprised, and said "Oh, that was you? I blocked you because I thought you were a Chinese drug scammer." She said "Oh. I am definitely not that. I don't have that kind of time."
Anyway, I unblocked her. I asked her what she was doing on Telegram, and she told me to mind my business.
