Has anyone had your cart stopper moving crooked & hard to push?

What was your solution?

Yes. I haven't fixed it, but I need to. I'm at a remote location and have no access to my spare cartridges, or shipping to get additional supplies. (I do have some basics (spare diabetic syringes, filters, BAC water).

I'm thinking I'm going to dribble a bit of BAC water down the underside of the cart, and then inject some air thru the top to move the stopper down a bit. Then try the cart again.

Alternative is either wait 2 months till repat, or suck contents of cart into diabetic syringes, and go back to the old school injections.

I don't like either option.

Mine was just filled. Im thinking I might have not lined the push in the pen properly. I didn't think to check this before. Unless some carts can be faulty? Idk lol Its my first experience with this

I'm guessing the "correct" fix would be to use a 3ml syringe to suck all the 'tide out of the cart, attach a filter, and put into a new cart.

Whose carts are you using? Mine are from Amazon, near as I can tell. Pens are from peppens.com. image.webp

I bought some from a supplier. I think its just the way I loaded with the pen cart. I need to pay better attention to where the stick that pushed it up is centered better. Must have been something I did & not paid attention to. I dont know, ha ha

I had a 2nd one jam up just this morning. I unstuck it the same way as I described above; that method worked both times. Dash of BAC water around the underside, then push 10 units of air thru the top of the cart to unstick it.

I know, this isn't the most sterile way to handle it. This is the best I can do given my remote location for the foreseeable future.

Half of standard cartridges have the moving seal / plunger installed upside down. The thicker end should be on the piston side. Take a look at a standard insulin syringe for comparison. Some pens deliver enough force to the piston without this additional friction being an issue. It works with the Ergo2 and V3, but not so well with the Gansulin or V1, never with the V2s.

Do you remove & reinsert if this is the problem? Wouldn't that make it not sterile anymore? So frustrating! I have to check & see if that's the issue (or if my pen plunger/stick/whatever you want to call it is just off center)

Im going to see what I can do bc prob not getting the correct dose being stuck like that

No, it's too complicated.

I’m saving the cartridges for future pen tests or in case I ever decide to inject the entire content (I haven’t figured out with which pep yet ;-)

That doubles their price, but I’ve found them for around €40 for 100. That’s already cheaper than in the photo above.

So you check every time to make sure if backwards before using that cart & save the backwards ones for a future test?

I received them in individual sterile packaging, with 10 in a plastic bag. I sorted through the 10. I hope to find more than 5 in the next bag. I’d like to try calibrating them with different pens, but it’s not urgent.
