Injector Pen

Can’t understand this is not yet done … even if it has to be rechargeable or some.. lol

Hopefully someone know something
This pen allows you to insert a syringe with your med and it uses a spring to gently inject. My wife has MS and was on copaxone and the older model was provided with her meds. It works great and will last for years. The only thing you need to buy is the syringes and alcohol wipes.

I too found this gismo helpful. It's not as compact as some of these other schemes but just being able to use a standard syringe will be a blessing for some people. It certainly makes sense for people still getting compounded in syringes.

In general, do most pens take more force to plunge? I was previously using syringes provided by SlimDownRX (unsure of the brand) and never really had issues plunging them. Moved to a ErgoPen and it takes significant force to plunge. At least in comparison.

Owen Mumford pen is spring loaded and takes regular 3ml cartridges. You dial in the number of units compressing the spring, then press release button, which activates the spring loaded plunger. They also include levers to help with both the spring and release button.
It does look cheaper than other pens, and the dial is not as good as even Chinese pens, but I really like not having to push the plunger.

This could be the pen, or the cartridge. Give the pen a try with no cartridge installed and see how much resistance there is. If it seems ok, you may need to try a different cart vendor or maybe you just got a cart that internal plunger isn't installed correctly.

Can someone please link the metal pen from AliExpress/Alibaba? I can't find it now. It was called magic tattoo pen or something and was maybe $12-16. Already have the ergo and its great but yes it takes a little bit more push to inject.

I see a lot of people talking about injection pens, but there is little information about the cartridges. Click on AliExpress and we have these cartridge options available for purchase, but they are not sterile. How do you sterilize this material?

Sterilization is a whole messy process. To be done right involves popping them open and cooking them under pressure and steam.

But for most people it doesn’t matter. I neither filter nor sterilize carts and have not hit any issue. Because the bacteria involved is quite minimal and subcutaneous is very low risk.

My new process per advice received on Peppys:

'wet' cycle in AliExpress pressure cooker style autoclave, followed by drying for two hours in an oven at 280F. The plunger is then pushed back in through the wrapper.
Then before use the wrapper is removed and the cartridge is sterilized once again with a few cycles in UV-C sterilizer. Might be an overkill, but I store filled cartridges over 28 days, so the extra steps to avoid bacteria don't hurt. I also filter the solution while filling cartridges.

I just buy sterilized carts for a few bucks each from EZ Pen or Pepens. So far, so good....
