Insomnia

Have no idea why always been more awake at night. Haven't worked at night since I was much much younger. Been waking up in the middle of the night around 3 something almost every night. This is when I have my best ideas (or things I don't want to think about). Magnesium helps me sleep better, so does metformin. I take those on & off.

You could try Trazadone, non-addictive works fairly well for alot of people till it don't. It's an old school Physcho med, I was on it for 5 years and could normally get 5-7 hours sleep. You can essily get online telehealth Rx as well.

Dsip & Epithalon did nothing for me, CJC-1295 no dac with Ipamorelin does help me a little and Melatinon is ok.
Trazadone. That's what my Dr. prescribed; 50mg. I think I stopped taking it because I woke up feeling groggy. He will not prescribe anything that can be addictive.

Thank you, I will try it again starting tonight.

Funny you post that today, I just put in for my Rx of Belsomra. I've been off work for 7 weeks with a surgery, still can't get any damn sleep. Six hours one day, then 4 another and wake up 3X ugghhhh! The Belsomra is $450, fortunately, it's covered this year since I hit my out of pocket and I just hope it works.

If not, I did see some people have some luck with DSIP & Epithalon in a nasal spray is my back-up to try. The Injection didn't work, but I'll try about anything.

Not trying to play Dr for ya, but Trazadone has a score mark and I would split it. I would take half 1-2 hours before bed, then the other half before bed or half before bed and when I woke up (always did) to use the facilities, take the other half. This help to extend my sleep and reduce how groggy I felt when I woke up. It helped for a couple years, but my Dr didn't want me on the highest dose and I started trying other stuff. I wish you luck.

Thank you ! Don't worry about playing DR. I loved it as a child....lol

It's a great idea. I googled it and found interesting posts......
- My doctor prescribed 50 mg pills and told me to split the tablet in half and take at night before I go to bed. WOW! What a great relief! I CAN SLEEP without the side effects of Ambien!

And another....
- I was first prescribed 50 mg to start, but quickly cut my dose to 25 mg because I didn't like the side effects of a foggy head in the morning. That dose worked for me, and I got the most consistent sleep I'd had for a long time.

So thank you for the advice !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I took the 25mg at 10pm. I was tired, but it still took 1.5hrs to fall asleep.
I did not wake up till 5am and fell asleep quickly until the alarm woke me up at 630am.
I felt really sleepy; I should have stayed in bed. I got up did yoga and stretched.
Headed to the gym for 8am. I walked in with my eyes half closed. The worst workout I ever had.
I could not match the numbers from my previous workout....surprise, surprise 🤣

I will keep trying the trazadone at 25mg for the next 7 days. I'm sure it will get better !

I hope you get used to the trazodone and it works for you! I take 150 mg every night and usually only deal with dry mouth in the morning as far as side effects. My issue is more with staying asleep than falling asleep, but trazodone is still pretty effective for me. Works much better for me than Ambien or Lunesta.

Got nothing to lose but sleep, haha. I hope it works for you, it always did work fairly quick for me. The Trazadone does a fairly wide dosing range, give it some time too. I used to give my 45lb dog, 50mg of trazadone to take her to the Vet for exams and she was a little spicy as they called it. Even did a 100mg for an ultrasound a couple times, so we wouldn't have to pay to get her knocked out. The Trazadone seems to have K9 applications too.

I got my Belsomra, the packaging looks like it costs more than the drug? See what happens.

I took Ambien 10mg and would get 4 hours tops and could barely get back to sleep, an hour later with 20mg of Melatonin. I switched to the 12.5mg Ambien extended release and got another 30 minutes, Woopdee Doo! I miss the Trazadone, it was hella consistent for me, glad it works for you.

i took it again last night, 25mg at 10pm. I woke up at midnight, couldn't fall asleep so I took the other 25mg. I slept until 7am. ( no gym - rest day )
But I'm waking up feeling tired/sleepy. Will this eventually go away ?

I used to get the morning hangover tiredness but not really anymore. Not sure if it goes away for everyone, but it did for me.

Your body takes time to get used to stuff, probably need to give it a couple weeks. Since the Trazadone has score marks in it, you could split one of the 25mg to 12.5mg and take that as your 2nd dose. Then hopefully you wake up less groggy. But I would give each dose 2 weeks to see how your body reacts to it. Feeling groggy sux, I get it. But the trade off, for a good nights sleep? I'd take the grogginess, happily for consisent 6-8 hours of sleep!

My apologize....we're already splitting the 50mg to 25mg.

I got this from Google.......

Yes, trazodone frequently causes next-day grogginess, drowsiness, or a "hangover" effect, with over 40% of users in some reports experiencing sleepiness. This sedation is the most common side effect when used for insomnia. The intensity depends on dosage and metabolism, with potential symptoms including dizziness, reduced alertness, and persistent fatigue.

I think I will split the 25mg once more to 12.5mg and see how it goes.

Thank you for all your advice 🙂

I have to commit to taking Melatonin at 9pm to make sure I sleep early. Honestly, I think there is so much going on my life and work that my brain has a hard time not thinking about it all. Oh, I also black out EVERY light in the room, literally everything even the little light on the TV that tells you it's off (why the hell do I need that light anyways lol) and I also play some rain sounds...I like to think it helps me get deeper sleep but I definitely know it's a cue for my brain to get into sleep mode.

I have OSA and am a light sleeper so not fun. I'm doing therapy for OSA, but have to wear earplugs and an eye mask. Have gotten better non-disturbed sleep but still not a solid 8hrs. I vary 6.5-7.5 of sleep. OURA rings make it worse because you think slept longer than it tells you.

My sleep routine is not the best. Will dabble with some of the stuff you guys mentioned here!

I had to google OSA. I don't snore at all. And in my mind I also thought it was the over-weight or old guys who snore.
NO !! My ex-wife; 5'3" Asian - 118lbs, snored like a bear....lol
But, with that said it started to get milder and less frequent over several years.
I rarely hear her snore now. (Yes ex-wife...and yes, still....you now 😉)

I'm not a night owl, but I haven't slept well in 3 years.
My doctor won't give me meds because they're all addictive.

I just found out about DSIP peptide.

And I already ordered my Mots-C last week..🙁
Trazadone isn’t. Doesn’t work for everybody. Does for me. Some times I take it with a Lunesta. But traz doesn’t work for everybody. I have had sleeping problems for 30 years. I have tried everything under the sun and it is all tangential effect if any, but my sleep stack…. Beta, saffron, l-t, magnesium g, ashwag, Val root, and a glass of tart juice and club soda…. I take that a hour before bed and some times, feel tired and know I will fall asleep. Other times, I have to go to the traz and possibly Lunesta. It has at least cured me from being in bed for 7-8 hours and sleeping 3-4 hours.

I'm in AWW from the things I've learned in this forum in such a short time.
No amount of research and YouTube videos could compare.

Now, just to be on the silly side of things for a moment. I remember when I was in my 20's and I would fall asleep right after having sex with my wife 🤣 🤣 🤣

Lifelong insomniac here, counting half a century. Partly why I started dabbling in this scene. What has worked for me is carb loading with high dose b3 - stopped because people in my family have died from diabetes and I'm trying not to die too soon. Glycine and l-theanine seemed to work, but moderately. Trazodone gave me the most horrific nightmares. Magnesium glycinate on its own did nothing, but paired with melatonin and valerian, I can actually sleep, not just fall asleep.

I did find ipa to be very effective for deep sleep, but it made me hungry all the time despite being on a moderate dose of glp-1. I gained a lot of weight while on it despite not increasing my calories. I'm like a robot with food - I eat the same exact thing every single day and don't mind it at all. Switched to HGH and lost all the weight I gained on ipa, but it does not help me sleep the way ipa does.

Currently on my first cycle of Epitalon (5mg/day) - maybe this will finally reset my broken sleep cycle.
