I’m thinking about buying Lilly stock this week. Thoughts. With the Reta and massive size and they are making 20 billion a quarter currrntly what’s not to love. I think it’s going to have a massive run. But I’m pretty dumb when it comes to investing.

I had similar thoughts honestly. When Reta drops it will be like a nuke went off. I would looks to see how other people did with the other glp1s and see if it is a smart buy to be honest.
Reading the forecast the high is 1500. I think it’s headed higher and will split. I’m going in. And if there is a crash I’ll buy A shit Ton more on the low. I’m doing Amazon and possibly Apple if anyone cares. All AI mega ships to crush everyone else.

as a pretty savy investor myself i tend to follow a rule set by warren buffet (the head of
Berkshire Hathaway) one of his big tips for investing is to invest in things you know. if you are knowledgeable enough in a specific area then you allready know alot of th ins and outs of that area of the market, you just need to look at it with an investors eye rather than having to learn the entire segment to get an understanding of the opportunities. if you have taken the time to learn all there is to know about glps and what types of opportunities there are then go for it.

i myself followed that advice back in 2017-2018 time and saw nvidia announce their new raytracing tech and literally put in my buy order on some nvidia stock during the press conference. have made a killing on it and wish i would have bought more.

take a look at the data. like really look at it.. roughly 40million americans are "overweight" and currently about 12% are on a glp of some kind. so you have about a 28% possible growth potential in the market and with them trying to get reta switched to a "biologic" they might just be able to grease enough palms to get it done...MAYBE. but also maybe not, who knows! but with the rise recently of glps and the possibility of that patent, not to mention the ongoing maintenance dose use of them there could be some great growth opportunities. who knows if it will be elli lilly though...

its all about your risk tolerance tbh. just dont expect to retire on a single LLY share lol

This is my take on this. I was seriously going to buy a bunch, but started weighing it, and said no. It's like $1,105/share as of Friday. I was going to grab $100K back when it was a tick under $1K/share and that would give me 100 shares. If it went up $500/share that's $50,000. Not worth it to me, now if it goes up $1K, I'll kick myself. These big share values are tough. Heck, my Nvidia, Microsoft and other big names aren't even half that and usually add all year long.

My thought is that you have to bet that they do go up. And if it did crash you buy a ton at the crash price. Cost average. Read the specs on it for the future gain. Like previously said. Who knows Lilly better than us. It’s always a crap shoot. I’m always ready for dips. Dips are how us poor people get our scraps in the stock market.

While one would mainly buy LLY for the growth potential, they also pay a dividend, not a lot but currently 6.92 per share. I can see the dividend going up to about 8.00 a share in 2027. Their dividend has been increased by a fair amount the last several years. Some dividend is better than no dividend.

I bought Lilly at $597 and just upped my stake in LLY when it dipped around $990. I do think Reta will be a trillion dollar drug for them and $1500 is a very realistic target. But I also hold NOVO and just picked up Viking Pharma last week as I think anyone strong in the GLP game will do great for the next 5 years.

Of the 2, do you think Novo or Viking has greater potential? Novo is established and has approved products already out there, while Viking's products are in various stages of clinical trials.

According to the analysts LLY is very overvalued, but I agree that reta will eventually get approved and will have an impact on the stock price. They also have several other drugs in the pipeline that look promising. I bought a few shares, but at over 1k a share the stock has to really move in order to make money.

I bought MU a year ago, now that's a mover!

I'm in it for 100 shares, bought in at $950 after what Reta did for me and reading about others on here. Kind of all in to the center of the pot, I just can't see anything else coming out that will compete with Reta, Tirz in the next few years and if they split.

While I agree. I personally don’t need the money and have a boat load in the market that does pretty damn good year to year. Not bragging, but the job I retired from 2 years ago was great and I did well. I’m honestly very lucky.

If you think about it. That company will grow regardless of our paltry investment. If you do invest. Atleast you make money off the company who will develop the medications that china will inevitably knock off. And then our group buys off grey. Circle of life.

Good question. I've been in NOVO for about a year and half after my wife lost 55lbs with Wegovy. Novo is well established and has a lot of other drugs besides GLP that perform well. But don't think I would jump in too heavily right now. Though I did call it when they launched oral Wegovy it would be huge. The stock was nose diving before that since Manjouro was kicking Wegovy's tail. Oral Wegovy had one of the strongest quarters for a new drug ever, and the price reacted accordingly.

I think Viking has more potential as the stock is a value stock at this time, but unproven. Has a nice pipeline of products and as we have seen in big Pharma if they don't hit it big with one of these drugs they will get bought at a decent premium.

Good info. Also something to keep an eye on, Pfizer has a once a month dose of GLP1 that is in clinical trials. They got it with their purchase of a company called Metsera.

Personally I had a few k in a random retirement account so bought a little Lilly and a little Novo.
Caveats:
I tend to buy and hold.
I don’t care if I lose this $$$ (likely won’t lose it all, it’s pharma after all)
Lilly has been up, Novo down. I treat individual stocks like gambling, I don’t put down anything I can’t lose. My “serious” retirement accounts are diversified properly.

It all depends on your goals. I thought there was going to be more of a run on Novo but I’m down 20% overall. But since I have not cashed out it’s not lost yet.

I’m leaning towards 100 shares and hold long. Thank you for everyone’s input. Everyone had great thoughts. I love the idea of this going up and splitting. Hopefully just before the Reta release.

Investing? No. I'm de-investing by buying gray!
it's kinda funny seeing someone on a gray forum thinking about investing in the company that would benefit from the very drug we're all getting behind said company's back 😂😂😂

OMG the calls are coming from inside the house 😲

I invested into Lilly a couple of years ago. I wish that I had invested a whole lot more. Lilly is by far my best investment in the last 5 years or so. They need to pay a reasonable dividend though. Like Berkshire Hathaway, we have to sell the stock to reap any profits. I don't want to sell while the stock is still climbing, or has such potential. I would like some of the profits though.

Every bit of information that you know plus lots more is already priced into LLY valuation. Everyone thinks they have a unique perspective or inside information but it's been proven time and again that it's nearly impossible to beat the market. Just buy VT and chill. But that dopamine hit from a winning bet or stock pick is worth something. Go for it.🙂

The GLP1 market was $80 Billion in 2025 and it's growing. Most GLP1's come from doctors prescriptions world wide, not the grey market. That will continue as most people trust their doctors advise, and their governments to keep medications safe.
