They are not authenticated at all. However, if they have scammed anyone here, there is likely to be a post about it.
Your best bet is to click on the magnifying glass above and search for the vendor name to see what people are saying about them.
What makes you think it maybe a scami
Yup. Trying to do that, gotta have some data! Hoping more experienced and trusted folks here have specific info or suggestions..The thing about buying grey is, you can be scammed at anytime, even by reputable vendors. So, never spend more than you are willing to lose. And NEVER buy from someone who contacts you first. The best you can do is read as much as possible about any vendors you are considering.
“Vendors” who initiate contact are likely scammers. Reputable vendors will not contact you unsolicited. The thing is that on TG if you ask for help on the chat they DM you
Yep.Make sure their contact information is exactly the same as what's listed on this site. Imposters use account names and numbers very close to the genuine vendors.
Yes. I want to warn that WBS links to their TG forum but their system to send requested COAs via DM - confuses this because it messes with this rule. (Like how my bank actually does text me, exactly like they never should). Or maybe that’s always spammers too and they allow it. Then they days replying anyway and someone else spoofed their account using the same pics and nearly the same spelling (extra dot that was supposedly a verified symbol, and o instead of 0 in account name, I noticed when I got suspicious today ) contacted me and answered a lot of questions.“Vendors” who initiate contact are likely scammers. Reputable vendors will not contact you unsolicited.
I use the info listed in the vendor connection on this site. I am not sure how hard it would be to get fake contacts in there but I bet it might be possible. I once made a vendor on discord from QYC respond to me on this site just to make sure they were legit.Yep.
Wondering whether the listings on this site all have real numbers to begin with? Maybe not eh? How could anyone tell.
I think the numbers might be real, if they haven’t somehow acquired some of those numbers in theoigh the business itself closing or letting go of the contact. But I think some of the linkouts to places like TG where they wait for you to ask for help on the chat and then are slow to respond and also say ‘I’ll DM you… can be spoofed by impersonators .I use the info listed in the vendor connection on this site. That’s a good idea to make them respond here, do they have verified usernames here?
Yes! That’s what was thinking about also, if veterans of successful purchases would be able to share that info. Maybe even make a database we can all contribute to. That would be more reliable than contact info.Another thing I check for before I send Bitcoin is the actual Bitcoin address. Some of the vendors will publish their receiving crypto addresses. You could always ask on this site if the crypto address used to make a successful purchase is the same as the one you are about to use.
So for us to figure out whether the person we are speaking to is the vendor they claim to be, the bottom line is where we are sending the payment"That’s a good idea to make them respond here, do they have verified usernames here?"
I think the vendors have to pay to be on this site. I don't think they are vetted though. If there was bogus contacts on this site I think we would hear about it quickly. Any shenanigans from a vendor is made public by us users.
I was only lucky, everything I learned did not prevent me from completely believing it. I was sitting there doing this with the spouse, too (who even now thinks I’m behaving antisocially rudely to the real vendor) Only the fact that crypto has a hold time even though I paid for stablecoin out of a debit card, gave me more time to think about it and notice a little tiny dot that was different between the name/avatar of the person I was talking to vs the person I was first trying to get to talk to me. But I’m pretty sure that more people are still pretending to be the actual wbs and continue the scam. And what may be the real people of wbs has not really differentiated themselves yet. Why would they be any more up to date on scamming techniques than anyone else, which are a mix of social and technical savvy. And in the end, we don’t know who or what any of these people are.We can never be 100% sure. I made an order with a bogus vendor one time and lost about $400. After looking carefully at the contact info it was obvious they were fake. That $400 was a small price to pay for the huge amount of money I have saved ordering from China. You are smart to learn all you can before sending payment. I was not as diligent.
You're right @Labcat. This whole business of them DMing COAs is really risky and annoying. Don't risk $400 or more to save $10 on a kit from one of these runaround operations. Stick to vendors who publish their COA links to Jano on here. And also their prices. Then reach out to them using the numbers and contact info here. Don't respond to friend requests or answer anyone on TG or Discord that you haven't first established a trusted communication with. Once you have a good method to communicate, then they can send you updated price lists or COAs.I want to warn that WBS links to their TG forum but their system to send requested COAs via DM - confuses this because it messes with this rule.
Small evil vs large scale, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, the private equity corporations that have taken over as healthcare employers, the lawmakers, legal enforcers, and others in government that play along and allow these clearly detrimental policies to propagate…After all this I wonder are the scammers any more evil than the pharmaceutical companies letting obese people die of strokes and heart attacks because they can't afford $1500 a month when their insurance drops them.
