About a month and a half after starting tirzepatide, my gallbladder completely gave up but i didnt know what went wrong at the tine.

Nearly 4 months later a HIDA scan showed it was functioning at 4%.
To be fair, it was probably failing for years. But losing 30 pounds in about 50 days likely pushed it over the edge.
I was sick every single day. In serious pain. Doctors couldn’t figure it out. I was convinced I had cancer or some kind of tumor. I had ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs — everything. Nothing showed stones. Nothing obvious. By about 2 p.m. every day the bile would start backing up and I’d be miserable.

It got bad enough that I wasn’t exactly pleasant to be around, even here, Some people say I was a complete asshole!

After ER visits, tons of bloodwork, and every test imaginable, I finally got cleared for a HIDA scan. That was the answer. Gallbladder ejection fraction: 4%.
I’m now about 9 days post-op and feeling pretty good. For a long time I didn’t think it was my gallbladder because all the imaging looked “normal” — no stones, no visible damage. But dysfunction doesn’t always show up on basic scans.
If anyone has questions about the lead-up, the diagnosis process, surgery, or recovery, I’m happy to share what I learned the hard way.

And now that im back! Chasing another 600mg stash of reta, 400mg Mots-c and 24iu HGH kits. RN looks like ERP's China warehouse has the best deal on that shopping list atm and they got me coa's for all of it, about to pull.the trigger.

Happy Tuesday you beautiful bitches!!!

Glad you're on the mend. GB not showing disturbance thru blood work or initial scans is concerning. Thanks for the info.

Ok, this seems scary. I've not had any major issues with Tirz myself. Do you think this was potentially because of the Tirz (or potential contaminants which came with the Tirz) or just something else that randomly happened at the same time you started Tirz?

Glad you got that out...had the same thing happen to me after rapid weight loss a few years ago. Kept getting the run around until my gallbladder went gangrene and fell apart on the operating table....which let to sepsis, which led to septic shock.

Now, it's onward and upward for you and you'll feel much better now that you have that malfunctioning gallbladder removed.

Nonono. My gallbladder bladder was a mess apparently way before I ever took the tirz, but sudden and abrupt weight loss is what triggers GB dysfunction, not anything in the tirz. Tirz just happens to be the reason I lost a lot of weight in a quick way.

Glad you're on the mend. Quick question how long before the surgery did they say to stop the glp1? I heard a week?

Well...the only good thing about septic shock is that I was totally incoherent for most of it. Gallbladder issues are no joke...the delay caused the gallbladder to turn gangrene and fall apart on removal...the retained gallstones caused a biliary obstruction creating infection and sepsis...
People need to know with rapid weight loss, gallbladder issues are real. Great post, brings awareness.

Ok, this is wild. My surgeon told me to talk to my dr when I asked how long. My dr. Said two weeks. Alright. Had a phone meeting with anastesia and the worker bee told me 2 weeks was fine.

Alright, fast forward to surgery day. Surgeon comes in to meet with me. No issues. Anesthesiologist comes in, mentioned the tirz, and told me I could have stayed on the shot and not missed a dose for the operation. True story.

Im glad i did stop, after surgery and the oxys was really backed up and the last thing i needed was any more difficulty pooping. But yea. Id seen so.eone else on Reddit say the same thing, that the dr. Told them not to miss a shot. But after reading about aspirating food into my lungs... plus i didnt believe it.

Ended up taking 3 weeks off, gained 2 pounds in that time, and already stacking reta and tirz and 2 pounds under my last lowest weight. I like to fast and without the GB it should be much much easier

Ty, i was desperate for answers for months and there isnt nearly enough posts on reddit about this. I actually have a big one there now for folks to find if they think they are having gb issues but dr.s cant pin it down.

Thanks, hope you get well soon.

Glad to see you are getting better and they finally figured out the issue! I had my gallbladder out when I was 19 and all I can remember about recovery was the gas pressure that was in my chest and shoulder. They told me to just hug a pillow. 😂 And I have a big scar in my belly button from the surgery but healing was fast. Hope you are back to 100 percent soon.

There are quite a few recent studies showing that taking GLP's prior to surgery for many different types of surgery lowers complication rates, not sure about abdominal surgery , might be more complicated or risky due to gi motility changes, but given I saw several studies about this over the past few months there are going to be good answers in the not distant future.
You do need to be a bit careful with anything involving anaesthesia as the slow gastric emptying does increase risks of there being stuff left in your stomach when it needs to be empty. I was extra careful and did not drink anything for several extra hours than was required before endoscopy but there was still fluid in my stomach when they looked. For one of these i stopped GLP's two weeks before, the other I didn't, made no difference.

I've heard all the horror stories about having to fast like a monk for 24+ hours before surgery now because GLP-1s slow your stomach to a glacial crawl. Me? My blood pressure has gone to normal levels in just two months on Tirz, my doc is looking at the numbers like I found a cheat code for hypertension (j/k) . But let's be honest... who even knows what's actually doing the heavy lifting here? I've been getting jabbed with so many different peptides I'm basically a human piñata at a birthday party from hell. The little peptide gremlins are swinging wildly, poking me from every angle, yelling 'WHERE'S THE CANDY?!' while I'm just hanging there like, 'Bro, if you find any health improvements in there, KEEP 'EM they're clearly working overtime!

Glad you are doing good, get well soon. About fasting without GB, don't think it's a good idea. GB is a bladder that collects bile from liver. Concentrates and holds until body signals fat presence in guts. Without GB, bile continuously drips into digestive tract. If you fast it will irritate the digestive tract. I'm not a dr, do more research.

Had mine out last summer. Same situation minus and GLP1s. I was happy when it was gone! hope you heal quick
