mini fridge temperature

hi everyone, planning on getting started with tirz soon but i had a problem

i wont be able to store the reconstituted peptides in my house fridge for personal reasons, but I do have a mini fridge I use for soda rn

main issue is that it only goes to 50f/10c minimum and from sources ppl have linked me earlier it should be at around 40f/4c. will i need to buy a new minifridge or can I use the one I currently have without problems? or is there a way to make my minifridge inside colder somehow?

i dont have a lot of money rn especially since I need to order the personal freezer + other supplies so anywhere I could not spend any extra would be nice

I have a few thoughts.

First, any fridge has warmer and colder spots. I would get a decent fridge thermometer and see if there is a place in your fridge thats tays the 36-40F range. You only need a small spot at the right temperature, right?

If it isn't as cold as a proper refrigerator, that will impair the long term storage ability... But depending on how long you plan to keep a reconstituted vial, it may not matter. It just depends on what you are keeping, and for how long. Maybe some reassuring data is out there.

Lastly if you look up details about your fridge, it may be possible to get it to run colder.

For example I use a small wine fridge to hold a beer fermenter. By design it only keeps 50F, not cold enough for what I need to do. By cutting a couple of wires you can bypass the thermostat so that when it is plugged in, it runs constantly, meaning it will get as cold as you like. Then you add an external temperature controller, and you can set any temperature you please. A similar hack may have been discovered for your fridge.

Should be at the bottom normally, the colder spot.

Heat rises yeah, but the actual coldest spot will depends on where the cooling is actually happening and the layout. I can freeze something in my kitchen fridge if I put it right against the vents in the back where cold air comes in, but an item on a lower shelf away from airflow does not freeze. A thermometer will let OP figure out the right spot for the desired temperature.
