I couldn't locate anything in search, so forgive me if this is repetitive - I believe this to be related to the Reta - please don't shame me if I am in the wrong thread 🙂

I'm on my second week, will have 3rd pin tomorrow. As such been trying to be more consistent in the gym. While I am hydrating with both water and electrolyte products that carried me through multiple Ironman events - propel, liquid IV, Precision Hydration type products. I am experiencing localized abdominal cramps when I try to do any kind of crucnch/situp - 4 reps and I'm so locked up that I can't even stand. But this is not happening anywhere else.

I am in a deficit Averaging 1582 calories a day, honestly targeting 2200/day - but struggling to hit the total target - I am generally hitting Protein at a high level, Fat - remaining under and Carbs I am usually way under.

5' 10" M - 236lbs

Macros Targets-
235g Carbs -
60g Fat -
180 Protein -

My overall goal is not just weight loss, but a solid re-comp as well. any help on the cramping issue?

What dose did you start with and have you already titrated up? Also when you say you hydrate well, do you know how much you're actually drinking?
You should also make sure you're getting in enough magnesium and with that potassium. And if you say you don't really manage to hit your macro targets, especially with carbs you are way under, make sure to eat enough carbs, not only because you're on Reta, but in general for your weight training.
Make sure all these things are in order and then continue to see how your body reacts as it gets used to Reta

Started with 1mg, no change there yet, not titration.

Consuming 160-180oz of water per day - will add electrolyte 1-2 times a day.

Will work on raising the carb intake specifically, P&F are pretty close to goal, just slightly under.

I just find it strange that I would experience such a localized cramping.

I was getting muscle cramps, also. I used chatty-G (as I call it) to troubleshoot the issue. I ended up lowering my water intake (was 120oz....now more like 60-90 for my 125 lb frame) and upping my electrolytes (Mg, K, Ca, and Na specifically). Now I am able to "hold onto" the water I am drinking, and my muscles are much happier for it. They are definitely fuller.

For most all muscle cramping it’s a signal that your body is in need of electrolytes! Been doing a homebrew electrolyte mix for a couple years now. My wife, who suffered from horrible foot cramps, held out and wanted nothing to do with my electrolyte mix.
One day I saw her grabbing a vial of my mix and I curiously asked what she was doing. She informed me she had been taking it every morning since she had a bad foot cramp a couple months ago and out of desperation used the mix I suggested as a fix. Hasn’t had a cramp since.
When on the glp1’s or really just about all of these peptides, we need to be supplyour bodies with the essential minerals it needs. Aside from the electrolytes, I squirt a tsp of living silica liquid into my water daily.

I also run 5-10 miles 3-4x a week so it’s vital to replenish what gets sweated out.😂

as others have said magnesium and potassium. most electrolyte mixes are focused on the salt, which is fine, but you can get some that are way heaver on things like potassium. id try making my own or just mixing and matching different ones to make sure you get different amounts of the ingredients.

Are tou drinking more than a gram of potassium balanced with sodium every day? I can feel myself want to cramp more than usual when running but it never happens because i start each morning with a tall salty glass of water mixed with potassium and table salt. If I exercise a lot I have a second glass later in the day.

I’ve never had issues with cramping before, but since I’m middle aged and only been back in the gym for 3 months after 20 years of poor sedentary lifestyle I’ve had a rash of injuries. When I started I was only taking trt cup I felt great and I believe I ramped up my weights way too fast and gave myself severe tendinitis in both elbows (tennis and golfers 😒) I’ve been working on rehabbing that, but from the very beginning my right bicep is always felt extremely tight like a rubber band that’s been pulled too tight on the verge of cramping or tearing, my leg day would start with squats and then I’d do lunges where I’d get severe cramping, started stretching and warming up with a 10 minute stationary bike ride before weights seemed to help until I had a severe spasm in my quad, it felt like a snake wriggling up through the middle of my quad or a squirt of liquid, hard to describe. Lots of discomfort and pain, I started Reta, GLOW and tesa/CJC/ipa right after backed way down on weights and took it easy but a week later pulled it again on squats. Been able to get that back to normal though doing body weight lunges and deep squats really light and with an elevation board. Things seemed to be going good right up until last Tuesday while doing shoulders - assisted pull-ups 10x25 and then side raises I got a cramp/impingement in my right shoulder blade/trap area. It’s been excruciating, I can’t sleep it radiates down my arm and my hand has gone numb to the point I can’t write or even push the soap foam pump or hold a toothbrush properly. I was adamant not to take any painkillers - that lasted about 2 days without hardly any sleep and now I’m dosing up on ibuprofen every few hours. Been trying stretches, rehab exercises but no luck yet, in the past using pressure points with a ball would release the tension on the nerve and relieve the arm numbness but that has done absolutely nothing for this- I’m out of GLOW & CJC at the moment still doing the trt & Reta. My wife is convinced it’s the peptides and hormones doing this - she’s completely not on board - I highly doubt it, getting older sucks and it’s frustrating not being able to work out going on 2 weeks now. Finally I don’t have a problem drinking enough water I’ve been eating high protein and fat low/no carb too but never bothered with an electrolyte.

If you’ve been able to make it through this rant I commend you.

All that to say I guess I need to grab an electrolytes mix - I’d take Calm from time to time and I have some pure potassium chloride the stuff is vile on its own. Any recommended dosing or ways to tell what you might be deficient in and need? I’m just so over this tightness and cramping and not feeling like my fitness is progressing
