I think I was more upset when she told me that than when my doctor first told me I was obese. I just put them on wet food. They are not happy. now they wake me at 4:30 am to eat!!! Any cat owners out there with an "obese" cat or cats??
Girlfriend had to put her cat on Prozac to deal with an overzealous Dachshund because it was getting UTIs from the stress. No more UTIs but it lost a LOT of weight.I think I was more upset when she told me that than when my doctor first told me I was obese. I just put them on wet food. I have 4 cats. They all get the same amount of access to the same food. Only one is fat. He's the one that was found starving at a post office parking lot. The woman that found him was vegan and she fed him a vegan diet for a few weeks until we took him in and he was given a normal cat diet. Getting him to leave the other cats food alone is a challenge.I think I was more upset when she told me that than when my doctor first told me I was obese. I just put them on wet food. What kind of sick person tries to turn a meat eating predator into a vegan? 😝 Poor fellow deserves the extra vittles!I have 4 cats. They all get the same amount of access to the same food. Well .. she was just dumb. I don't think she intended to hurt him. All she saw was a starving animal eating the stuff she gave him. Now he gets nothing but cat food. What kind of sick person tries to turn a meat eating predator into a vegan? 😝 Poor fellow deserves the extra vittles!

Will second that. Put fat old neurotic cat who started having pee issues on the kitty Prozac, and he lost 6lbs! His safe place was the food bowl and he was always worried. Now he's happier and can jump on the counter to knock things off again!Girlfriend had to put her cat on Prozac to deal with an overzealous Dachshund because it was getting UTIs from the stress. Likewise, don’t try to turn your rabbit into a carnivore. What kind of sick person tries to turn a meat eating predator into a vegan? 😝 Poor fellow deserves the extra vittles!
I fed my diabetic cat young again kibble- it’s made to be an appropriate diet for an obligate Carnivore. She went into remission on young again kibble and fancy feast, stayed off insulin for almost 2years.My cousin has an obese cat. He wakes her up at 4:30-5 am to eat. She just found out that he was diabetic. She's giving him only wet food now, and just a few pieces of kibble throughout the day as a treat. He's such a cute little fella ❤️

That's great! I'm so happy that your cat is doing/did so well❤️ I will have to let my cousin know about this. Thank you so much for mentioning this!I fed my diabetic cat young again kibble- it’s made to be an appropriate diet for an obligate Carnivore. I learned as much as possible because my Faith was diagnosed and because she originally received incorrect treatment, ended up in the vet e-hospital with DKA. I researched and talked to her vets at the hospital and they said that cats fed a species appropriate diet (ie, low carb) and started on lantus insulin have the best chance of going into remission. Faith was hospitalized at the end of January and off insulin by the end of August. And she was 21 when that happened. I think she would have remained in remission but I was fostering a little chaos goblin of a chiweeni, and she stressed ALL of my pets badly and the rescue refused to take her back. I ended up rehoming her myself and her new family adores her, but she caused Faith to go back on insulin and start showing signs of CKD 3, Matilda got stress cystitis, Charlie hurt his neck when bitty monster essentially bullied him off the bed(he kept giving her more space until he fell off my elevated bed) and Gracie just turned into a seriously cranky and reactive dog- but only toward that one foster. That 13 lb dog turned my house upside down. Oh, and her greeting to me was to bite me so hard she punched through my acrylic nail and embedded the fragment (she had been abused- by the time she was adopted I had convinced her that human hands are not supposed to hurt her and biting, fear peeing or pooping was not needed and hands are for pets and scritches). It broke my heart- Faith didn’t recover and died January 15 this year. That's great! I'm so happy that your cat is doing/did so well❤️ I will have to let my cousin know about this. I'm sorry for your loss. Faith was such a beautiful girl! You are a wonderful fur mom with such a kind heart to all of your fur babies. You can only do so much for all of them. I know Gracie must be an itty bitty monster, but it's understandable with her past, poor little pup. You gave Faith a beautiful life, you did the best you could with what you have, just as you're doing for your other fur babies. You have a lovely heart and doing your best. Thank you for all your sound, advice for my cousin's cat!❤️I learned as much as possible because my Faith was diagnosed and because she originally received incorrect treatment, ended up in the vet e-hospital with DKA. At any rate, diabetic kitties can go into remission and be diet controlled as long as you have a peaceful home. Oh, and I used freestyle libre 3’s to monitor her blood sugar, especially when she was near remission and the end times- the phone would alarm if her sugar was low and I would feed her a handful of carby treats. If that didn’t bring her up after 2 servings of carbs, she got a half teaspoon of karo syrup and a full meal. Anyway- if you have questions or if she does, ask. And I’m sending big positive vibes that her kitty does well for a long time.
This was Faith just before the chaos dog came..
