Eli Lily Announces Tirzeptide Can Be Purchased In Single Dose Vials​

Consumers willing to self-inject can now source Tirzepatide at lower cost and directly from pharma giant Eli Lily.

The medication packaging deletes the injector pens and comes in vials holding a single dose of 2.5mg or 5.0mg. Each vial must be reconstituted by the user.

Eliminating the injector pens has enabled the lowering of monthly cost of 2.5mg vials to $399 and 5.0mg vials to $549.

This form of Zepbound requires a prescription that is placed through the company's own telehealth portal.

They are single-dose vials because people as a rule are stupid and injectables especially lead to all sorts of patient compliance issues. Unfortunately they have to make it as idiot-proof as possible, and without a doubt there will still be people who find a way to screw it up.

FWIW, Mounjaro has been available in single-dose vials for nearly a year so this isn't exactly "new" although the LillyDirect pricing is new and IMHO a likely result of the impact of the proliferation of compounding and research products.

Eli Lilly like any good drug dealer...get the "clients" in at a discount...then charge them more for their weekly fix... Suprised they haven't come up with first time shoppers get 3 months free!

This is also why they say it's a "weekly injectable" when they know it doesn't nearly last a week. Patient compliance and ease of use of injecting on the same day every week is more important

I did avoid posting it "In The News" as you previously requested, and I am aware of proper journalistic style. My estimation is that most of what is posted on GLP1forum.com is not "News" rather it is "Entertainment" a la "Fox News".

The Savings Card amended (applies to everyone now). 550.00/mo now 650.00/mo. Can only be used 5x per calendar year. I assume Eli Lilly direct being the only supplier and requiring a Telehealth call with them for the prescription means $99 for the consult and they will likely force titration to get you off the vials.
They really want off the FDA shortage list.

Compounding is cheaper. Much cheaper. SDRX is $245 a month for 2.5 and $285 for 15. Not as cheap as other methods but better than Eli Lilly is offering. Once those Eli Direct buyers have to increase to 7.5 they will not be very happy.
