Normal ASC experience?

Just wondering if this is a normal ASC ordering experience or if I have done something wrong? I have used bitcoin quite a bit in the past. But admittedly it's been a few years since I've sent a transaction. So I'm curious if I did something wrong here? To me it seems that I have sent an extra $30 and yet still am told my payment wasn't received despite it showing up on block chain. Really hoping I haven't just lost $500 😔 This seems to be a well regarded vendor, so I'm guessing I have messed something up somewhere?

Price difference could be that the price of BTC changed. Use a stable coin like USDT.

1-3. BTC is a notoriously volatile. Use a stable coin or any other means of payment.
4-9. Have some patience. There's time zone differences.

I don't think you've lost your money. Give them time to figure it out. After a couple days a brief "hello, proof of payment attached"... Long explanations don't go far.

Will do. I think just need to be more patient. Wasn't trying to say anything bad about the vendor. They were very quick with their replies before it got late in China.

My past experience with these type of things has been from steroid type websites where you order from a website, and it confirms bitcoin receipt almost instantly. So I think I'm just a bit nervous doing things via email.

I will say though I wish they just gave you an exact BTC amount they want so you don't have to worry about trying to figure out how much to send.

Ask for that next time. The folks over there are flexible so they may accommodate you.

I use PayPal and I haven't had any issues.

Received an update. Seems they still think the payment wasn't received. But looks like they are going to ship anyways. I definitely didn't receive any bitcoin back so not real sure what happened here, the transactions are confirmed delivered via blockchain. I think I will offer to pay the remaining balance over PayPal in the interest of keeping a good relationship with the vendor.

It looks like you did everything correctly. I'm not sure why you would be on the hook for price volatility. They don't refund you if volatility is in their favor.

If they are unhappy about the fluctuation in Bitcoin price, they would be better served sending payment amounts denominated in Bitcoin rather than USD.

It can take time for Bitcoin transactions to have 6 confirmations behind them, especially during times of high volatility where fees to get into a block are more competitive (high traffic) and block space is restricted.

I agree. Honestly it seems like they just don't have a good understanding of Bitcoin. They've been super prompt with communication even when it was like 1 AM in China. So if I get the Tirz I ordered and it tests well I will continue to use ASC but use PayPal in the future.

Might be worth requesting the amount denominated in Bitcoin. So there's no room for any objection to payment.

But what's a few bucks in fees using PayPal? You'll make that up stacking the sats.

Maybe PayPal is the better option.
