Degradation is the reduction of the active ingredient of a med or chemical, reducing its potency. I think of it this way.
When you go pick up most Rx from the pharmacy or even OTC, that med is already degrading, hence the expiration date. If that med is left in your medicine cabinet and tested a month after manufacture, it might be 99%. 6 months later, it might be 92%. It might be just as effective. But a year later, around the expiration date, it might be 82%. Still safe*, but won’t be as effective. And if you leave the Rx bottle in a warm room or let it get hit by light, even more degradation. Still safe insofar as it won’t harm you just from being degraded, but might not work even half as well as before, and that lack of effectiveness could cause the harm.
None of us want to be paying for and injecting half-arse Tirz. We want it to be high purity and thus highly potent so that it’s effective.
*There are some meds that should never be taken post expiration date because they become toxic. I don’t believe GLP-1s are one of them.
