I recently started a new Vial/Provider and was a little concerned about whether it was less effective than previous Tirz.
It occurred to me that the days I track higher caloric intake and less healthy foods coincide with days after I had a few drinks. This is something I had previously not noticed, likely as a result of effectively losing much faster during my first few months.
It lead me to look up more information on the subject.
I kind of knew alcohol was bad with empty calories and other negative effects, think pancreas.. but I was only having a few, and will continue to in moderation.
What I did not know is the physiological impact it had on the GLP-1s, in addition to the psychological cravings, and that it was likely the cause of my plateau and concern on efficacy.
Here is a summary of what I found:
Drinking alcohol while on GLP-1 medications can increase appetite and potentially hinder weight loss efforts. GLP-1 medications, like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, work by stimulating the release of GLP-1, a hormone that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar levels. Alcohol, however, can disrupt this process, leading to increased appetite, higher blood sugar levels, and reduced impulse control, potentially leading to overeating.
The good news is after getting over my hangover and nursing my head for a day, my appetite is back in check today and I am not looking for a chili cheese dog.
I am curious as to whether this may be impacting others and they are unknowingly blaming the wrong thing.
