I don't think I have found all of the information in one place on using peptide pens aka insulin pens. I thought it might be useful for someone out there to have this.

Using an insulin cartridge pen you first need to fill the cartridge with your peptide. That then is inserted into the pen itself. After you load the cartridge, for each injection you will need to add a needle to the end. You then use the dial on the side of the pen to select how many units you want to give. When you are ready to give the injection you push the part of the pen where you dialed your dose.

Why I love this method:
  • You are not injecting yourself with the same needle that you just used to draw up your dose - something I absolutely HATE doing and refuse to do if at all possible.
  • Drawing up units has less room for error.
Instructions on filling the cartridge:
It is much easier to see than to try to describe. This is a great video.

Instructions on adding the filled cartridge to the pen:

Where I bought my pen:
AliExpress for about $17. There are numerous suppliers on AliExpress selling these. If you want to buy domestic there are people re-selling these. I am sure google can help you there or maybe others have suggestions.

Needles I bought:
You will also need needles - I preferred a 5mm length but there are also 4mm and 8 mm.

Cartridges:
Are one time use. Current best price I could find for a pack of 10 or 20.

Reconstituting syringe:
Also you will need syringes for reconstituting. I prefer 3 ml syringes - gauge and needle size does not matter very much imho. I get whatever my work has available I can find from other sources.

I didn't see that there is another thread on this topic. Will link it here.

Great info!!! I finally started using a pen this week for my daily peps. It's not much of a time difference but I can fill more doses and reconstitute less often ( instead of just a few days of SS31 I can do 10). Thus, less waste for needles too. I use the 3ml syringes with luer locks to recon.

Do you guys switch the needle tip for each shot? And keep the pen in the refrigerator between shots?

I’ve been tossing around getting one of the small mini fridges or a makeup fridge to keep the pens in.

Yep.

I just got one! I love it. It was in my Temu cart for like $40 and then there was a flash sale for $16. I put a temperature monitor in there and it stays around 37°- 41°

I have got to get out more...had no idea there was even a thing called a makeup fridge. 😂
Some skincare stuff like serums lasts longer refrigerated. They were originally marketed for soda cans and such and people would keep them at their office desks. I've seen them around for a long time. They can fit 6 cans perfectly. Then someone thought, "oh this is perfect for my skincare!" and that's mostly what I've seen them marketed as for the last 4-5ish years or so.

Absolutely I use a new needle each time. And it goes back in the fridge after use.

Appreciate you doing this and linking the tools needed

I know this post is old but have a question....can I take the vial holding the peptide out of the pen between uses? I am going to be flying and only want the vial in my liquids bag and not the whole pen.

Yes. You just unscrew it the same way you would if you were changing the cartridge.

Yes, you can take one pen and swap carts in and out. You just have to move the plunger to the right position in the cart each time you swap using a method similar to getting the air out of a new cart.

I have used the same needle to pin from two different pens in the same session. Not as hygienic as using a new pin but I think its pretty low risk.

I have read that storing the pens with needles installed can cause the pen to leak.

I honestly don't know if that is a huge deal re: using the same needle on yourself back to back versus letting it sit for days. (Letting it sit and then re-using it would be bad.) When I was drawing blood if I didn't hit the vein I wouldn't change needles - only try a new location which I find the same concept.

I have stored my pen with both a new needle attached ready to go and without. I have not had issues either way but I think I prefer to NOT have the needle attached because to me it seems more "sealed."

But then if you keep it without a needle in the pen, the next time you take it out from the fridge you would have to wipe the tip of the cartridge first with alcohol and then attach a needle?

Also are there different types of cartridges? The 3ml cartridges I got from china arent really high quality… also the pen isnt great quality either

Measurement also not very accurate. I got 4 of these pens from china and they consistently under dose by about 7-9 iU

Ive tested 50iu and 60iu on all of my pens, im getting under doses. Any way to make my pens more accurate?

I typically (but not always) wipe mine with the same prep pad I use on my skin.

Almost all of the pens take a standard 3ml cartridge

I tested mine once and it seemed accurate, maybe I need to test it again. There is no way that I know of to adjust them.

Just an update, I checked the calibration on one of my pens today. I have several, both V1 and V2 models, and tested with a V1.

I loaded a spent cartridge with tap water, installed a used needle (nice not to have to worry about sterility), removed the air from the cart and primed it. I popped the top off of an empty 3ml vial and injected/squirted 10u, 40u, 50u dosages. I then sucked up each dosage of the water with a .5cc insulin syringe. All three measurements were spot on.

If anyone has a more accurate way to test pen dosage please offer upgrades on my process. I will probably test my other pens the next time they are empty.

I have 10-12 at home and randomly chose a couple of them. I used a 100u filled to different levels, filled a cart, dispensed it out (once all at once and also at diff units) into a little container, sucked it up with the 100u needle, and it was accurate save a dribble, maybe.

When I use syringes I always lose some too bc I get obsessed with what looks like an air bubble, but isn’t, and I refuse to learn this.

Some folks need to be super accurate, I get it. Some folks (me) forget to put on shoes when they leave the house.
