Reta results

I’ve officially completed weight loss into recomp, and now going into bulk......

Tried to hit 2000 cals even though it was hard af just getting my g/lbs of protein. ........

What a journey it’s been. Reta has changed my life and guided me to not only being in tune with my body, but health and dieting right. Now during bulk I’m upping calories from 2000-3000. Tried it out today. Fell short lol. Was full af by early afternoon. Settled for a protein shake early evening and still fell short by 300 cals!
Yep. 62 y.o., male. 6/2/25, sw, 232. I hit gw of 188 on 10/27. My intent was and continues to be to bulk muscle back up to the 195 - 200 range and .... I have not been able to accomplish that. lol I'm not even using reta. I've been using 7.5 tirz and 1.8 survo since 10/17 and maintaining current weight range of 185-188 is pretty much effortless. However, because I have serious cardio concerns (atherosclerosis and just received a stent) and because I have an ortho/cervical issue at C5-C6 that I am currently trying to resolve, I am leery to titrate down now that I have my lipids/A1c/healthy food intake/weight management/moderate exercise basically on autopilot. I have tried to increase my kcal from 1800-ish to above 2500 and it is really hard to do - especially the 1g protein/1 lb of body weight.
🙂

At least we're able to actually work on these things today. I am super grateful for that instead of being beaten by the seeming alternative.

I’ve never had sulphur burps on Reta, but with Sema they were really bad for me. Just the all around indigestion was bad, I couldn’t take it. I had great weight loss with Tirz, but the anhedonia was bad and I just had no energy, so I lost about 25 pounds with that and stopped taking it. I’ve had great results with Reta and my only issue is the severe skin sensitivity. I had about 40 lbs to lose overall and I’m about 10 away from my goal now. It’s very slow to come off, but I’m also trying to recomp, so trying to get enough protein in to keep the muscle mass and lean out a bit. Slow and steady wins the race. My goal is to get there by the middle of May which I think is realistic for me.
Do you mind sharing your current dosage? And your dose escalation over time? I'm fighting seriously bad anhedonia on tirz right now and considering trying reta instead

Right now my Reta dose is 2mg every 3rd day. So for example if I take 2mg on Monday my next 2mg dose will be Thursday, and so on. I cannot take anymore than that at a time or I get systemic allodynia and it’s pretty intense-especially when it’s cold 😵‍💫 I started out at 2mg for about 3-4 weeks then began to titrate up 1mg every 2 weeks or so. That’s when I began to notice the skin sensitivity-at 3mg-but it wasn’t bad enough to continuously bother me. When I began taking more it started to increase and I didn’t really put 2 and 2 together until I got to about 5mg. I kept going tho, because from what I could gather from others experiencing the same issue, it seemed to subside for them within a month or so. That never happened for me. It continued and was interfering with my ADLs and my sleep. That’s when I began 3mg 2x/week. That helped but I was still experiencing sensitivity, so I knocked it back to 2 and that’s when it subsided for the most part. I still get a slight bit of it now and again but it’s mild and doesn’t bother me that much.
I feel for you with Tirz and the anhedonia. The weight loss for me was good, but it made me feel like doing nothing. I would struggle just to get out of bed and getting to the gym took every bit of energy I had in me. I’ve tried to keep my weight loss journey slow and steady. Losing weight too quickly increases muscle loss and also sagging skin. That’s one of the reasons Reta has been better for me. I’m not dropping weight like crazy on it and I have absolutely no issues with decreased energy or anhedonia of any kind. The food noise is not as muted on Reta as it was with Tirz, but that’s not a huge deal for me. It’s been more to do with quantity for me. I can eat a ton of food 🤣 It used to take a lot for me to feel satiated. I have a degree in nutrition and dietetics, so it was never me not understanding portions or calories or even eating healthy. It’s always been just the sheer volume I can consume. Eating whole foods , very little processed, tracking absolutely everything and still was struggling. I had never really had an issue with weight and eating until I became pregnant with my first son, so I do believe that pregnancy changed something in me.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend switching to Reta if you’re able. The issues I had with Tirz, and what sounds like you’re having, was/is no way to live.

Gonna give Reta another shot. If it doesn’t work this time I’ll do a 6 week washout and start over I guess. I power titrated up to 4mg and will level off here. 2mg-3mg-4mg in three weeks
