Can I get opinions on smart scales? I currently have a Renpho that is almost 10 years old. I have been considering an upgrade to the Hume Health Body Pod or similar scale. Any recommendations or is it even worth it to upgrade?
TYSM! I also love all the data, and I know that my current Renpho is not giving me very accurate information. It’s a starting point, but I’m very scared of the muscle loss on GLP-1s, especially as I cross over into my 50s this year. It seems like $139 for an upgraded Renpho, or slightly more for other models is probably worth the investment. Here’s a post that includes comments and a little discussion about a person who took his or her Renpho scale to their Dexa scan appt to compare accuracy and they were surprisingly accurate. This person is using the newer 8-point electrode scale.
I love all the data that smart scales give. $139-ish seems like a reasonable amount to spend to be able to track all of the metrics in your health journey if your smart scale is as old as yours. Mine is only about 4 years old, so I haven’t pulled the trigger on an upgrade, but it keeps moving in and out of my cart (especially every Prime Day or other made-up day to make us believe it’s “on sale.” 🤣)
Thank you! It sounds like I’ll just be needing to determine what brand to go with when I upgrade.I have a Hume and really like it. It produces consistent results that are a good match with what I see and feel in my body, and what the InBody (a $12K device) at the doctor's office prints out. The app does a remarkable amount of useful analysis. (I also have the Hume band. The combined data is more extensive than just the Pod provides.)
You are probably correct that the mirror is more accurate. I’m just a numbers person and I love my graphs and charts. They make me happy, and it’s makes me unhappy knowing that my current Renpho is just guesstimating the stats.I have a Renpho. I've give up on everything except the weight. In fact, I've weighed once in probably 4 months. A glance in the mirror is more accurate to me.
thanks for the heads up I would've been annoyed if I jumped on the first one now lolJust a heads up. I received an email this afternoon from Withings that they plan to launch the Body Scan 2 this June.
