I ran into a woman I care quite a lot about but haven't seen in a long time. She's on reta, week two. She's not done any research, doesn't understand what grey is or know anything about grey, doesn't know anything about reta, and took a vial that had been reconstituted by a friend of hers and is taking ten units a week at their direction. She doesn't know the mg/ml, doesn't know the source of the vial ("from a place in California") and doesn't know how to assess or reduce the risk.

First of all, if anyone here gave her that vial, I hate you.

Second, she hasn't invited me to weigh in on whether she should be doing this, and so I will not be telling her that I do not think she should be doing this. And also, I do not want to see her hurt. If it were tirz, I could answer questions about tirz, but I'm not even taking reta; I don't even know where the spoon-feed step-by-step what to know about reta is kept on the internets. I also do NOT want to be or have any business being her Peptide guru, and I know she's not going to research things independently. She's someone who really ought to be doctor-guided, but that's not where we are.

If there was someone you cared about who was doing what she's doing, what website would you drop in her text as a "Here's a site that can tell you more of what you need to know if you want to do this long-term" if you could only pick one? I know what I know from a combination of ChatGpt (followed by googling whatever it said to see what actual humans were saying that prompted it to spit that) and reading what felt like four years worth of posts in this forum.

You are a true friend by speaking up tho. If I had a booger, I'd expect you to tell me. And that's not dangerous...
She's been dear to me for a long time. We don't have the kind of relationship where I'd tell her how to live her life, but even at my most reclusive, I'm still always happy to see her and to walk her dog. She's not "like a mother" to me, but my feelings about this are LIKE if you had a mother who was kind of trusting and some guy you didn't know handed her a vial of unknown, reconstituted grey.

Maybe ask her if she minds if you weigh in. If she'll let you, tell her it sounds dangerous and why you think that. Then ask her if you can show her a few articles on it. Maybe start off with the news story about the coffee shop? I don't know tho. Some people you just can't reach. And you know her well enough to know if you can make a difference or not.

God, the coffee shop. THAT would be a really good "hey there are risks here" conversation starter. Thank you.

I'd recommend Stairway to Grey. The link to their Telegram site is in my signature. However, unless she is at least a little computer savvy, she won't be able to Stairway to Grey well. For spoon feeding, try https://quallіgator.com/. I don't mean to insult the users of quallіgator; there is plenty of good information on that site. However, the people will generally be far more patient with newbies. Also, the way the site is run, a person has to participate somewhat before they can access parts of the site. quallіgator is designed to force a person to make some effort to learn. If anyone has a problem with my recommendations of sites, I challenge you to find better sites for person who is going to need a lot of hand-holding. There may be other sites; but I don't know of them.

Most people find empowerment and fervent interest in GLPs once they acquire them. If this isn't her she's probably one of the many who won't stick with it or have the wherewithal to continue without the person who's already enabled. Stairway is good advice if you feel you need absolution but beyond that there's an old saying about bringing a glass of water to a horse that's not thirsty or something like that.

Thank you both; I looked at Stairway to Grey, and had the same thought; good information, not terribly accessible by her. I'll check out quallіgator, though. And nonya has a very good point; there's a very good chance she'll lose interest and stop taking it. She was telling me how she thought the med probably didn't work for her because she'd "only" lost two pounds in a week, and asked me if I thought that was slow. She's using what she's pretty sure is a 10mg bottle on both her and her husband, so maybe this'll be something that lasts a few weeks. And once again, I'm aware that ZERO of this is any of my business, but man...it was pretty alarming to hear it, and hard to grapple with "Whoa. If she was playing in the street and didn't know about cars, I'd tell her about them, but how much of this is my place?"
