Stopped tirz 13 mg q week 3 weeks ago. Anyone notice food noise returning after stopping the med? I lost 100 lbs the first five and 1/2 months , now down 150 lbs since mid April 2024… total weight loss around 182 lbs the last 2 years…. goal is to be 195 lbs at 6’2 (8 more lbs) …. So far I haven’t noticed any differences in appetite , food noise or carb craving. Does it usually return for most folks?

The dream! Please keep us updated and good job on your loss up to this point.

Unfortunately, it seems like most people have their hunger return based on the EL trials where they cut participants off the medicine and most begin regaining weight. But that doesn't mean it happens to everyone and that we don't have a say in what happens. If it gets too hard, you could try slowly winging yourself off of it. Cold turkey would be rough for most. That's what I plan to do. Otherwise, keep on killing it!

I was having dizzy spells on it that is why I stopped .. has planned on being on it life long………. Reversed diabetes , sleep apnea, severe fatty liver is now very mild, etc. it has been a miracle drug

Ah, crap. Are the dizzy spells a new thing? If so, maybe you could take a look at your electrolyte intake or try upping your calories a bit while decreasing your tirz dose for a couple weeks. Being low on salts will make you dizzy frequently and it's harder to maintain them when you are low calorie and even harder if you are low carb. I'm not sure what your diet looks like ... Just brainstorming.

Good luck!

Didn’t cut carbs … was on a 1200 calorie diet for 7-8 months… now 1800 calories ….. pushed the electrolytes and fluid ….. I thought maybe it was from the weight loss or tirz…….. dizziness is common but it usually goes away after a couple months. Mine started since the second month on it…….

I've been on a similar weight loss trajectory as you and am nearly blacking out every time I stand up. In my case, I feel it's the drastic caloric deficit I've been in for 15 months now, probably because I don't want to blame tirz. Who knows, could be either or a combo of both.

I'll be curious to see if mine resolves once I hit maintenance here in a month or so and can increase my calories to whatever my maintenance level would be. I'm assuming around 2400 calories a day. During this time, I will begin slowly decreasing my tirz dosage to see if my symptoms resolve. Maybe if your dizziness didn't worsen over time, you could try a similar experiment?

Used to have lots of dizzy spells on Reta as well. Started really paying attention to my electrolytes and hydration and I rarely have those issues anymore. Also noticed that these things tend to pass after a while.

At 3 weeks off tirz my instances of dizziness have improved ….. I thought it was orthostatic hypotension from standing but we checked it at the clinic I worked in and my blood pressure wasn’t dropping. I wore a watch and monitored heart rate … it wasn’t dropping…. Then I wore a glucose monitor for 2 weeks ……. Did urine dip sticks to stay out of Ketosis and monitor hydration status…….. I really try not to blame the Tirz but the dizziness is improving off med …

…yeah I agree about restarting Tirz when I am at maintenance calories …it’s a good point ……… I might wait a couple more weeks and restart and keep a low dose going ……. maybe say 5 mg for maintenance. I really like the anti-inflammatory effects , brown fat activation and the effects it has on the liver and blood sugar……. It’s like they made a medicine specifically for me.

Yeah, I really pushed the electrolytes and hydration…. But it never got better most people do get used to the med…… i’ve also rotated the manufacturer on the med…thinking, maybe it was contamination.

Dwight!

That's rough, and I hope it resolves soon. And it's really great to hear you are so close to goal. Well done, you.

Also ... I've noticed you peeking in here a little bit lately, and I'm glad! You have been missed.

Did you desert us because your calorie deficit didn't leave you with enough energy to deal with our nonsense?

Yeah
Dizziness is horrible. Have you had your orthostatic blood pressure checked? You don’t think you’re anemic do you? Could be from dehydration….

😂 I appreciate you, garbo.

Blood pressure is always perfect at the doctor appointments, so I'm not sure. I have blood tests tomorrow so I'll find out more on that front soon.

Good to have blood work. Yeah, orthostatic hypotension is when your blood pressure drops when you stand up usually heart rate goes up. Blood pressure could be good sitting ………They will check your blood pressure laying down, sitting up and then standing to diagnose it.

He ditched us cuz he was doing stand-up on the Diamond Lady which also coincidentally resurfaced.
