Started on tirzepatide at 2.5 mg one dose per week back in August and have gradually worked my way up to 5.0 mg in one injection weekly. I am an old fart and have to get up to pee 2 to 3 times nightly. (I've had a TURP.) In the past, most nights I would go right back to sieep. Some nights I find it difficult to go back to sleep. Recently, since I started tirz, it seems like most nights I have difficulty going back to speep after I get up. I am very interested in whether tirz has affected the sleep patterns of other people taking tirz. Do you have any suggestions for me? Because insomnia is a long running problem for me I do all the standard stuff: sleep in a darkened room, no tv in bed ever, quiet time before bed, etc. However, as I said, my sleep issues seem to have gotten worse since I started tirz. I would appreciate your feedback and suggestions! Thanks

Most people get a slight resting heart rate increase on glp1s. I've never heard of it messing with sleep but if you're already borderline.
On another note, you titrated to 5mg pretty quick. Was 2.5mg not working for you anymore? Did you try 3mg and 4mg?

I had trouble too on tirz, with sleep, it happens for at lot of people, for me it just resolved itself with time. 🙂
It's a good idea to eat some protein rich before bed, because your blodsugar can drop around 3am and wake you up, and cortisol hormone wakes up around 3 am, to get bloodsugar up, so cortisol can also play a role.

Its is one of the side affects if you read about it, I have had problems with sleep when I started Tirz, but now its not great but atleast I get 7 hours and wake up once sometimes twice to pee.

It's a problem for me, too. After more than 1.5 years on tirz, I just put up with it. Occasionally I take an OTC sleep aid, to "catch up" on my sleep. But yeah, it sucks.

I lost 1.5-2.0 lbs at 2.5mg tirzepatide & lost no more. Much of the medical literature has you do four weeks at 2.5mg and then step up to 5.0mg for four weeks and on up. I opted to do four weeks at 2.5mg, one week at 3.5mg, and one week at 4.0mg and then stepped up to 5.0mg. My weight history is complicated. 12-13 years ago, I started Weight watchers and lost 35 lbs. With ups & downs I maintained that. About a year ago, My dieting was starting to make me feel like crap so often and I still wasn't maintaining my weight. I gave it up and fairly rapidly shot up 13 lbs and continued to edge up. I heard about GLP-1 drugs and how they block the hunger signals and decided thst was for me. Reading convinced me that tirzepadine was the superior drug between it and semaglutide for both weight loss and side-effects. My weight wasn't that high and the one compounding pharmacy I contacted couldn't/wouldn't, help me. My BMI is probably around 33-34. For whatever reason, 2.5 mg tirzepatide weekly isn't getting me to my goal weight and that is why I am ratcheting up.

Those are the medical trials, which are designed for maximum effect in a minimal amount of time while not having too many people drop out from excessive side effects.

Personal health isn't under those constraints and it's highly advisable to move slower than that.

Obviously you're not going to stay on 2.5 forever, but it takes 4-5 weeks for a given dose to even fully saturate your body.
