Traveling with Peps - take only needed doses

My RS has some travel coming up and was thinking about the difficulty of keeping Peps (pens or vials) cold on flights and in hotel rooms without a fridge for several days. Any downside to injecting from a pen, into a separate cartridge or vial (with a vent), only the doses i think my RS will need on the days my RS is out of town?

This would reduce the risk of degrading a full vial/cartridge and the spent vial/cartridge can just be tossed in the trash after the dose is administered. Any downside, other than wasting a cartridge for just a shot or two?

I can't think of any downside to that, but I've also never had a hotel room without a fridge. You can can also get usb powered - cold storage themos style containers.
