Today Trump signed an order ending the de minimis rule. The de minimis rule was a tariff loophole on low cost items sent in small amount. Earlier this year, Trump signed an executive order to end the de minimis rule. However, a few days later, Trump backed off that rule. Members of this forum extensively discussed Trump's prior, temporary termination of the de minimis rule. New 10% tariffs on goods from China.

Here is an article on the latest Trump executive order ending the de minimis rule. https://www.reuters.com/markets/trump-considering-revoking-tariff-exemptions-cheap-shipments-china-source-says-2025-04-02/ The rates are somewhat different than the last time Trump revoked the rule.

This means that goods shipped from China will likely face greater scrutiny. That could make buying GLP-1 drugs more difficult in the short term. As a practical matter, increased tariffs, due to their severity, are not likely to last long because making them last will cause a recession. The new tariffs Trump is imposing will end either before or shortly after our country enters into a recession.

As a practical matter, we'll continue to be able to obtain GLP-1 drugs because our vendors will find a way to bring it into our country. It's quite hard to stop the shipment of little things that are worth much. However, it wouldn't be surprising if they become a little more expensive or difficult to obtain in the short term.

Trump is gutting the FDA. That may making obtaining illicit GLP-1 drugs easier.

I read there are over a billion packages per year coming in under the de minimis rule. As a practical matter they can't search them all. Plus, virtually the entire world will be subject to tariffs on everything, so customs is going to be overwhelmed. I would expect that shippers would have to declare a value and pay the tariff on the declared value. That may add to cost, even if there is no significant increase to seizures.

Looks like customs is getting more aggressive especially chicago... seen some guys waiting on orders from one source with no movement after mid March when it hit customs and another source not taking Chicago orders. It can't last long, they couldnt/can't stop aas. ..

I read the Trump order (link below) and unless I am missing something the end of the de minimus rule is only being applied to shipments originating in China (PRC) and Hong Kong. Shippers are also not required to make a formal entry and can import using the much simpler/faster informal entry process. I imagine vendors could use a logistics provider that ships to a nearby country and then re-label and export to the US. Illegal but so are many of the products they are shipping.

I agree, if there is money to be made the vendors will find a way or new vendors will pop up and figure it out. It just may take a few months for the dust to settle.

from what i read things will just require different paperwork so as long as that is ok things will still go through.

I am getting concerned with what's going to happen to prices. The latest bit of news on back dating tariffs is not comforting.

They will ship it to a company here with an invoice for 10.00 a pound. So the tariff will be 10.04 a pound. That’s an extra 66 cents for every 10 vials of 30mg you buy. Even if they invoice at 100 a pound it would be 6.60. Heck 1000 would only add 66 dollars to a kit.

And of course this assumes they would ship from china. I’d imagine they could ship from Mexico. Even if the Chinese left the business , I can’t see why the cartels wouldn’t get involved. It’s got to carry much less risky risk than selling cocaine. And the profit is pretty good I am betting. Cocaine doesn’t sell for 600 a gram. And that’s about what they are getting for tirz. Plus they can sell direct with fewer middlemen

This was surprising to read:

im not surprised at all. This was 100% foreseeable.

Saw that. I think we're going to see some more of those.

Interestingly this is happening at the same time as many are having to consider other options besides compound/telehealth. When the crackdown happened on precursors to meth it resulted in cartels taking over and product becoming cheaper and better.
I would consider this a time for suppliers to decide who is taking over and figure out their own logistics.
Some already have started, lots shipping from US, I would take this slow with letting them apply pressure to create sells.
