I’ve been on retatrutide for about 10 weeks, starting at 1 mg and now at 4 mg, and I wanted to share what appetite suppression actually feels like for me, because so many people talk about the lack of appetite suppression on Reta. I’m 5’10”, started at 226 lbs, and I’m now around 212 lbs, with most of the loss starting once I hit 2 mg.

Compared to the four feelings people usually describe, less food noise, blunted cravings, early fullness, and dampened food pleasure. only one really stands out for me: I feel full faster.
The “food noise” is still there; I still think about meals and snacks like I always did, and the pleasure of food hasn’t gone away at all. If anything, I still enjoy eating and get real satisfaction out of meals. I also still drink beer and enjoy it.
My cravings are reduced, but that’s more about feeling full sooner than losing interest in food. I eat smaller portions because I’m satisfied earlier, not because I’m detached from food.
For me, that early fullness is a really good thing: I’m still very much a food‑lover, and I don’t want to lose the joy of eating. Reta just helps me feel satisfied with less. I hope this helps some people understand the difference. Maybe, if I keep titrating up the other elements of appetite suppression will kick in but I’m very happy with the feeling I get now.

I completely agree, that is the main effect Reta had on me too, at my low dose of around 1g. I also get reduced cravings, and while I still eat chocolate etc, it gets less rewarding earlier.

A side effect of being full earlier though is that I look more carefully at what to eat. Might be a tad bit easier to choose wisely. 😊

I just realized this weekend how much my food habits have changed since I been on reta. We always grill every warm weather holiday and normally I would be looking forward to all of the good stuff I get to eat. This year I was like "meh". I just had a hamburger and some macaroni salad and I was stuffed. We always cook enough for 2 days and I haven't even wanted any leftovers today. Normally I would have had a hot dog, a brat, potato salad, baked beans, etc by now. Food just doesn't have the same thrill anymore.
I am gonna grill me some chicken breast on Monday so I can get some protein in next week. I have realized just how much better I feel when I get my muscle-building fuel.

Sort of jealous of folks who just straight-up started on reta. On the appetite suppression front it feels like a bit of "you don't know what you don't know"

I'm thinking of adding reta to my tirzepatide because I'm at 15mg of tirz right now - the clinical trials are interesting though in that despite "inferior" appetite suppression to tirzepatide, retatrutide trial participants lost more, so obviously that glucagon is glucagonning.

I am only on 1mg of Reta right now, but for me I have actually noticed the opposite. If I am distracted in ANY way (work, gym, gaming), I seem to just forget to eat. Before Reta I would be counting down the minutes until my next meal, and my stomach would growl the second food crossed my mind.

On the flip side, I haven’t really noticed myself getting full faster yet. My intake is reduced mainly by the fact I spend most the day not eating, and I can’t squeeze that much food into the meals I actually remember to eat lol

Very similar to me! I cooked for 15 people the other day on mothersday. I made Bbq ribs Mac salad, kielbasa, and more, we had 2 cakes even. I had 1 medium size plate and was so full I couldn’t eat all nigh. I’m sure the couple beers filled me up too but man, normally I would be like 2 or 3 plates deep.

I’ve definitely read about many people having different experiences than myself. I didn’t get any noticeable feeling on 1mg, I actually ate more the first 2 weeks on 1 mg. But I also have a pretty high tolerance for many things. From what I have read a lot of people really aren’t getting a lot of appetite suppression until high doses so wanted to clarify what I felt to not deter people from trying Reta. It’s been pretty fantastic for me.

The appetite suppression and feeling full is really strong on this last 8mg dose. Maybe a tad much, we'll see.

I had a feeling appetite suppression could get a lot stronger with more MGs. Did you notice it get stronger as you titrated up or did you go up because the appetite suppression was weakening as time went on at a certain MG.

It’s something similar for me. I’m at 5 mg now and since 4 mg I have been “full” at really small portions. I can now eat a small sandwich and simply can’t eat more. However, food noise reduction has been there since 0.5 mg for me. The thing that food noise doesn’t help with is physical hunger pangs. Like, I can feel I am hungry and I will drool if I smell food. But the reta helps A LOT with the mental hunger pangs where I simply don’t think so much about what my next meal is gonna be. I simply go and eat when I’m somewhat physically hungry. But yeah, since 4 mg, the real suppression is that of feeling full super fast and getting big nausea if I try to overeat so I don’t and purposely keep my meals super small portions.

It dropped on the last 4 weeks or so. It feels like it did when I started this stuff at 2mg.

Very true, although at 2mg once weekly i couldn't even look at food it was equivalent to staring at a rock. Ever since splitting the 2mg dose i feel what you do which is the fullness quicker factor. Honestly, for me this is more important as i need to be able to get my protein intake and on that 2mg there was zero chance i could do it. Very interesting how different doses effect people differently. Also, the study from Eli lilly showed 4mg maintenance dose was highly effective long term as well with 20% weight loss! I fully prescribe to minimum effective doses for myself so i think that'll be where i stop as i titrate up. Good luck to you!!
