What's the most aggressive weight loss you would still call recoverable from?

2kg/4.4lb week sustained for 8 weeks isn't "short term" for most people (exceptionally heavy people could have that much water weight).

That's something like a 2k calorie daily deficit, assuming the water weight isn't included.

What do you mean recoverable?

Hormonal and not regaining it back

I was thinking "not dead"

Unlikely without actual androgenic steroids. A simple calorie deficit, even a harsh one, will probably not permanently harm you unless your malnutrition causes scurvy or kidney failure or osteoporosis but all of those can be avoided if you're careful with supplementation.

Studies showed that gallstones start appearing above 1.5% weekly body weight loss.
I keep hearing that lately but if you look on here it doesn't add up? I have yet to see anyone on here having stone issues. Including me

It would be very hard to lose actual fat at that rate unless very obese and not eating much and having pretty high energy expenditure. Given that at the start loss of water weight from used up liver glycogen could cause a drop of 2-5kg, realistically 16kg-5kg from water works out to 11kg fat/lean tissue in 8 weeks or 1.375kg/w which is completely possible. I lost weight at 6kg a month or 1.5kg/w starting at 145kg for a long time before it slowed down on 1600-1800 kcal/day. It would also be hard to lose weight that fast if not very overweight as the energy expenditure per day is higher if overweight due to all the extra cells using energy, causing faster weight loss for a given calorie intake per day.

How fast you lose it is not really related to putting it back on. Realistically apart from GLP's, surgery or the rare person who permanently changes their entire eating pattern and lifestyle and maintains it forever, nearly all weight loss gets put back on sooner or later. Losing the weight with GLP drugs is definitely sustainable, if you keep taking them , it is shown to keep weight loss stable for up to 4 years post weight loss on the dose used to lose the weight.

about 90% of people who lose weight on a diet gain the weight back in 5 years. coincidentally, that is also pretty close to the people who have lost weight on a glp-1 and gained it back within a year of stopping. Thus we have two ways to keep weight off. Stay on a maintenance dose of GLP-1 forever or fundamentally change your eating and exercise habits and maintain those new habits for the rest of your life.
As to how fast can you lose weight? 1% a week is generally considered to maximum healthy weight loss and multiple studies have shown faster weight loss correlates to increased loss of Lean muscle mass. look up the Elite athletes study, the muscle atrophy study and the Rapid vs. Slow Metabolic Rate Study.
