Hi. I would like to interact more, but am limited: "insufficient privileges to post here." Why is this and how can I change this?

I feel like it's important for us to be able to post in the Vendor threads to either ask questions or give feedback. I notice that a few people are allowed to post in there but it should be open to anyone.

I have felt the same way, but I can imagine things going south quickly, with more moderation being required.

Most of those same vendors have dedicated channels on Discord, Telegram or PepChat, or some combination of those where you can feedback all you want. This is more of a source listing to see if they have anything that interests you without wading through all of the noise.

Going to disagree on that. A lot of people don't have or use Discord or Telegram and this is a good place for them to be able to either ask questions or to raise concerns publicly that others could be interested in. I don't see vendors being able to post advertisements saying whatever they want without any commentary from users to be a good thing.

If your post has good content and/or merit you can post it anywhere and get interaction.
The reason for the limitation is for people (not NECESSARILY you) that think their opinion is more important than others and would disrupt the (non-accredited) vendor channel that is non editorial and strictly informational.

I posted something the other day don't remember where but it said it needed to reviewed before posting. Hadn't seen that before because I have been here a long time. I just lurk more than post.

And it happened again with the above post. This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors.

“new users”‘are having their messages moderated as a spam control measure. It was getting really bad, dozens of gummy spam posts every night, by users creating accounts and then posting immediately.

Anyhow, the system considers a user “new” based on an algorithm, largely around their post count over a certain period of time. When someone is clearly a human posting in good faith (which you are of course) I try to go in an manually switch off the moderation for them, but it’s a bit of a tedious process so sometimes I’m lazy about. Also, if you lurk more than post for a while it might switch you back to moderated. I’ve switched it off for you so you should be good to post without moderation now.

This is all unrelated to users being unable to post in the vendor area, which is a separate thing and by design.

As an aside, you can't post in vendor only areas, but you CAN message them if they have an account here!

I'm grateful that I don't have to filter through twelve volleys of back-and-forth queries with a vendor with regard to how can I order, which batch is it, I ordered five days ago and haven't received the package yet, does it ship from the US, what if it doesn't clear Customs, will it ship frozen with icebergs in the box, does a kit includes hypodermic needles, can you provide a fraudulent CoA, do you also sell rhinestone-spangled pens, is your v.ail of triz/semi/reti/cargi/obetrol compatible with my Sexy Pineapple Diet?????????

As an aside, you can't post in vendor only areas, but you CAN make a thread elsewhere and tag them. Some areas they can't post; don't remember which. But QSC for example used to respond regularly.
You are encouraged to DM them if it’s some personal customer service grievance or niche question.
