Yahoo!/USA TODAY: These people lost their sense of taste. Are GLP-1s to blame?

That explains why my wife is even more sensitive to spicy food than she already was! Personally I could really benefit from a dulling in the flavor of sugar, I like sweets a liiiitle too much

I have very changed taste buds. Everything tastes different than before glp's.
I mean, I can taste this is a tomato etc, but it's different.

I can say for me it is absolutely a change in taste and it was immediate from my first dose all of a sudden I couldn't taste salt and most sugars/fake sugar. it has really stolen the vast majority of the enjoyment from eating(its a wonderful thing). I read somewhere that it can subside after a while when your body is adjusted to the glp-1 but I sure hope not because I like not caring what I eat.

I wouldn’t categorize it as a loss in sense of taste but rather a muted dopamine response and heightened sensitivity to sweets. At least that’s been my experience.
That matches my experience. No flavors or tastes have changed for me, just the hedonic response.

Actually noticed a much bigger change when I experimented with a strict carnivore diet for 2 months. The one exception I allowed myself to carnivore during that period was lemon juice in water. Immediately following that, vegetables went from tasting good to absolutely amazing. Although they're back down to good again now. A more interesting story from that time was that shortly after I had some lemons leftover and on a dare ate a whole lemon (skin and all) and honestly it had a sweet, enjoyable flavor to it. To this day I can still eat plain lemon segments and enjoy them now. Go figure!

I agree it's not "losing" sense of taste - its that the things we once enjoyed become overwhelming, especially "sweet" for me. Coming from someone who used to eat hundreds of grams of sugar on a daily basis to someone who can barely handle anything the tiniest bit sweet without getting overwhelmed with it, the impact of the GLP is very real here.

A Stellate Ganglion Block will restore taste and smell after they are ruined by COVID vaccines. I imagine it would work in these situations as well. Initially I thought it was nonsense, but I had the procedure done for something unrelated and it completely changed my palette. It also helps with lowering Cortisol production, so great for stress. Procedure takes about 15 minutes.
