I found this recipe online and tweaked it a bit. It is a refreshing, face-melting, sinus-clearing, stomach soothing juice shot. I use a Ninja food processor to blend all the ingredients together. Then, I strain the blend through cheese cloth over a strainer into a large glass Pyrex 4-cup measurer, and then use a small funnel to get the liquid gold into the 2oz. bottles. The cheesecloth I get at the local grocery store - also available online. So is the small plastic funnel I use to transfer to the shot bottles.
RECIPE: (makes 18-20 two-ounce shots)
RECIPE: (makes 18-20 two-ounce shots)
- 8 mandarin oranges
- 8 lemons
- 4tbs honey
- 4tbs turmeric powder
- 1tbs cayenne pepper
- 1.5cups water
- 2.5 cups chopped ginger root
- 4-6 chopped pieces of fresh turmeric root
- Wash ginger root and turmeric root thoroughly.
- Chop both roots up into small .5 - .25in pieces and toss into the food processor. You may also sub in a blender if you have a good one.
- Cut lemons in half and juice them into the food processor.
- Add water.
- Add turmeric powder, cayenne pepper, and honey.
- Cut mandarin oranges in half, remove and dispose of the peels, add the orange halves to the mix.
- BLEND BLEND BLEND.
- Take your metal strainer and put it over your large glass or metal measuring cup (I used one that is 4cups).
- Cut a large enough piece of cheesecloth to cover the inside of the strainer.
- Pour your blended mix into the cheesecloth and strain into your measuring cup.
- I do half of the contents at a time - if you follow this recipe, it will be about six to seven cups of liquid.
- Put the small funnel in your shot bottle and pour until full - cap it off, move to the next.
- Put your juice shots in the fridge to keep them fresh and chill.
