I found this recipe online and tweaked it a bit. It is a refreshing, face-melting, sinus-clearing, stomach soothing juice shot. I use a Ninja food processor to blend all the ingredients together. Then, I strain the blend through cheese cloth over a strainer into a large glass Pyrex 4-cup measurer, and then use a small funnel to get the liquid gold into the 2oz. bottles. The cheesecloth I get at the local grocery store - also available online. So is the small plastic funnel I use to transfer to the shot bottles.

RECIPE: (makes 18-20 two-ounce shots)
  • 8 mandarin oranges
  • 8 lemons
  • 4tbs honey
  • 4tbs turmeric powder
  • 1tbs cayenne pepper
  • 1.5cups water
  • 2.5 cups chopped ginger root
  • 4-6 chopped pieces of fresh turmeric root
  1. Wash ginger root and turmeric root thoroughly.
  2. Chop both roots up into small .5 - .25in pieces and toss into the food processor. You may also sub in a blender if you have a good one.
  3. Cut lemons in half and juice them into the food processor.
  4. Add water.
  5. Add turmeric powder, cayenne pepper, and honey.
  6. Cut mandarin oranges in half, remove and dispose of the peels, add the orange halves to the mix.
  7. BLEND BLEND BLEND.
  8. Take your metal strainer and put it over your large glass or metal measuring cup (I used one that is 4cups).
  9. Cut a large enough piece of cheesecloth to cover the inside of the strainer.
  10. Pour your blended mix into the cheesecloth and strain into your measuring cup.
  11. I do half of the contents at a time - if you follow this recipe, it will be about six to seven cups of liquid.
  12. Put the small funnel in your shot bottle and pour until full - cap it off, move to the next.
  13. Put your juice shots in the fridge to keep them fresh and chill.
You can adjust turmeric powder and cayenne pepper to your liking. And if this is too many shots at once, and you want to make less, just halve the recipe. I like making a big batch because I drink two a day - first thing in the morning and one at night right before bed.
