Blood work

My doctor did the normal bloodwork CBC panel plus some Thyroid (TSH, T4, T3) testing as the minimum before starting Tirzepatide. They also recommend checking Vitamin B and D levels as lots of people can have love levels and that is easily fixed. I also had my hormone levels checked as I wanted to get a baseline. I'd encourage everyone to consult a knowledgeable doctor and get bloodwork as you may learn a lot. I know I did.

It's always a good idea to get things checked even if not starting any new peptide.

But some markers to check is everything your doc will let you, blood glucose, A1C, test, lipids, vitamins.

Probably a good idea to get a dexa or InBody scan before hand as well. They're not the end all be all, but if you do enough to track trends, that would be great.

For all of you that are on it, does your doctor know you’re taking it? Is it prescribed or are you going Grey market? I’m going gray market and I don’t really want to share that with my doctor.

I've requested bloodwork from my naturopath but will not be saying anything what I'm taking. I've just told her that I have lost 22lbs and want to see where I am. She didn't ask how I lost the weight (yet).

I've gone a very long time without any routine bloodwork. Telehealth ordered a couple labs when I started on compound way back when, but it's been over a year since I've had any.

It's not something I'd recommend, but I would not say it's absolutely required.

I found Siphox and was so excited and had such high hopes, but that turned out to be such a shitshow.

Anyway - I'd think a baseline CBC and full chem panel would be appropriate; that should hit thyroid, A1C and insulin.

So I had all these labs done a year ago and not much has changed with me. I’d love to avoid getting them done if I could. If I do end up getting them done would it make much difference if I start my tirz this week and get my labs done in the next few weeks of should the labs be done first?

If you have any questions about your cholesterol and/or cardio issues at all and if you would like to see how tirz will benefit those levels, then it is a great idea to get at least a lipid panel done before you start tirz and then 2 or 3 months afterwards to see that change - most likely positive.
HbA1c also for the same reason except related to diabetes potential.

Well that’s kinda why I thought maybe I would just go with the labs from a year ago. My cholesterol was all hi and my A1c was borderline. So I should be able to get an idea from that whether it’s working. But I know a lot can happen in a year.

RequestATest.com makes it super easy to get legit labs self-pay.

Others here will very likely chime in on slightly less cost alternatives but Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics that RequestATest offers are undeniably the industry standard bloodwork labs and I believe I paid $50 for those two tests recently and had results back in 2-3 days. Worth it to me.

It’s a personal preference on doing blood work or not, there’s not a right or wrong when you’re prescribing yourself.

I’m doing a lot of optimization, at least relative to where I was, and I like data, so I’m getting as much as I can along the way.

I wanted to use Rhythm or Siphox to do monthly tracking but their methodology (capillary) isn’t looking as reliable as I’d like so I figure I’ll self paying for Lab Corp and dealing with having to go there.

100% agree with this. I try to test every 90-days due to autoimmune, request a test has been a god send since insurance seems to think once a year is sufficient. I've been able to order labs that my PCP felt weren't necessary. This has led to a better understanding of my health. Totally worth it.
