Hey over 50 ladies! Get in here, Let's talk

I love reading about everyone's experiences! Question before my 5th dose tomorrow. I am still having some nausea on 2.5 tirz. I am big on following the science, clinical trials, dosing recommendations and maximizing the outcomes. I know that I should jump to 5 this dose but I am really worried about the side effects.

I told my doctor that I am using a telehealth provider for compounded tirz and she prescribed some anti-nausea meds but told me to refer back to the telemed doc for dosage questions. I am not sharing I am using gray. I am tempted to follow the recommendations and go up to 5 and use the medication if I have side effects. Or am I overthinking following the data as opposed to just trying a slightly higher dose for a couple of weeks? Thinking about 3.75 which would be an increase of half my current dose. Thoughts?

Clinical trial dose escalation is not the same thing as what you should be doing. They are designed to get the maximum effect in a fixed amount of time while accepting that some people won't be able to tolerate it and need to drop out.

The trial shows a statistical average of what someone can expect on any given dose. It's not meant to be a roadmap to follow directly. If you're having unwanted side effects at 2.5mg you should reduce to 2.0mg and stay there as long as you're getting results.

If you are losing, drop to 2 mg and see if the nausea resolves. If it does, you can try again to increase IF you are not still losing weight. Don’t up unless your weight loss stops, ok?

I’m strongly a believer in doing what makes you feel comfortable and what works for you. If you are still losing weight, I would also be tempted to wind back on the tirz. The trials were designed to get folk up to 15 mg as past as they could while trying to minimise side effects / drop out rates.

Hey-o! It’s reassuring to see so many other women here I can identify with 🙂 It’s great to read all your stories!

I’m 50+ … single, officially post-menopausal, ADHD, hi blood pressure, and deal with chronic anhedonia. Also suspect autoimmune issue, but doctors kick the can down the lane and won’t commit to anything 🤷‍♀️

I have 3 adult kids - most are married and all in their own homes; I’ve been an empty-nester for about 7 years, now.

I used to be extremely fit and very active outdoors. I used to trail run in the woods 60 miles a week. One of my kids is a Marine Corps veteran and said even during Bootcamp, they didn’t run as much as I did per day lol. Now, I’m just laying on the couch all weekend with no energy and barely any drive.

I’m 5’-3” and maintained around 105-120 lbs most of my life. Minus 3 back to back pregnancies 🤣

Typical eating style is Mediterranean with bouts of keto to mix it up.

But the past 5 years, my weight has crept up…. I’ve gained about 40 lbs mostly due to fatigue & depression/apathy.

I’ll be starting Tirz in just a few days, and I’m very excited. It will be interesting to see how the side effects play out (GERD, fatigue, anhedonia, etc) because I’ve been dealing with all that in some form for 10+ years. I take Prilosec, pace myself, and try to stay plugged into the world even though most days I prefer to be a hermit.

But I feel that grandkids are on the horizon and I want to become active and outgoing again for myself and for my family…

I hope you have an easy time of it. The side effects are random from person to person. I've gotten lucky and have been able to overcome the ones I've had with exercise and vitamins.

The shots have been a life changer for me. I started Dec 2025 over 300lbs and I'm down in the 200s now. Lots to go but it is working!

Hi RetaSisters! I started Reta for the first time 2 weeks ago today. The food noise disappeared almost immediately. So lovely--it makes me shudder to think how many hours (which add up to days and then to weeks and then to months and then to years and then to decades...) I have spent thinking about food....

Here are my (very short-term) results:
Age: 58
Height: 5'7"
Starting weight: 155.6
Current weight: 149.0
Body fat % start: 29.5
Current body fat %: 28.0
(I use a Renpho scale -- these %s probably aren't Dexa-accurate)
Protocol: 0.5mg Reta 2x/week (Sunday/Thursday)
Other peps I'm using: KLOW (3.2mg 5 days/week), CJC-1295/Ipa (400mcg 5 nights/week)

I've been at 149 for 3 days or so, so hoping to move off of that plateau eventually. I'm not sure I have a "goal weight" -- I think I'll know when I get there. My happy pre-menopause weight was 140ish, but I'm not as concerned with getting back to that as I am with body recomp (gaining some muscle/losing some fat). I want to be strong and live long! I am doing some strength training and re-committing to a minimum of 8K steps/day.

Reta has given me hope that I can feel like myself again. I hope it does the same for all of you!

Wow, You’re doing great! I really appreciate that in sharing your protocol you have added the dosage and how many times a week you are using Reta, KLOW & CJC-1295/ipa
I am exploring adding peps and it is so helpful to get a clearer picture of possibilities. I know they are very individual and there are endless configurations, but still, it helps to see what others are actually using.
I’m only on the starting dose of sema and busy researching all the other peps available. Have you noticed any particular effects that you can ascribe to either KLOW or Cjc combo? It may be too early to tell…

We have almost the same stats. I don't know BF% though. My goal is to age healthy as well!
I'm 59.
I've not done weight lifting for years and really want to take it up again. Last year I lost 25 pounds with Sema and currently taking a small maintenance dose until I switch to Tirz for maintenance. I'm scared of Klow because it hurts. 😫
This morning I weighed 145, which is fine for me.
Here's to our journey being long and fruitful! 🎉🎉

Hi! Congratulations on your progress -- 145 is my next mini-goal, so hoping I'm right behind you 😆

For me, the KLOW isn't that painful. No pain at all immediately following the injection. A couple of hours later, I get kind of sore in that area for a few hours, depending on which site I've chosen for the injection. I was kind of nervous but it's really not as bad as I had imagined. Some things that help (if you ever want to give it a try): use 3ml of BAC to reconstitute (the "weaker" the solution, the more volume you need to inject, yes. But the more diluted solution supposedly helps with the pain. So I have heard.). I also usually inject it in my a$$, which is less sensitive than my abdomen area. Sometimes it leaves a bruise, but there's no pain back there LOL.

I'm not yet at the point in my re-connection to strength training that I would be so bold as to call it "weight lifting" -- I'm working with my dumbbells and kettlebells (and my own bodyweight, an evergreen resource! 🤣) at home for now bc the nearest gym is ~30mins away.

Love the Tetons, btw. Spent a bunch of summers on the WY side when I was a kid. It was a different place back then, but it's still my Mecca.

Hi! I can't say for sure if I'm noticing the benefits of the KLOW and CJC-1295/Ipa yet. Definite maybe. I have less pain in my achy places (haven't gotten brave enough yet to try injecting the KLOW into my shoulder area 😱, but I think it feels less like it used to feel). And I feel a little less brain fog, but then I wonder if it's the placebo effect (I'm a pretty big skeptic by nature).

The CJC-1295/Ipa blend is, I hope, going to help me preserve/build muscle as I am losing weight. According to my $19.99 Renpho scale (which I know is not as accurate as a Dexa scan, but it's what I've got), my skeletal muscle mass % has gone from 41.1% to 42% -- that's heading in the right direction! There are better/more accurate scales (like the high-end Renphos and one by a company called Hume Health) that I'm sure are more accurate. They run ~$200+, so I'm not convinced I need to get that obsessed, but...

Ladies, could you please help me with how to start making it myself? Is there a step-by-step guide for dummies? 🙂 With Tirzepatide.

Oh yes, I started weight lifting also. I feel like a fly trying to lift a huge pile haha

As the title says I’m looking for input for other ladies over 50 who are on this pilgrimage (not a journey to me, that sounds too easy). I’m 59 and have been overweight since I hit puberty. Total hysterectomy at 44. No major health problems.

I started December 15th on sema. I’m making decent progress. I’m up to .5 on dose but thinking about switching to tirz. I ordered a 30mg kit a while back. Going back and forth on changing and maybe doing a small sema kicker on my 3rd or 4th day each week if I need it. I have been having more cravings on day 6 and 7 each week.

I’m having trouble getting motivated to exercise. This happens to me every winter. I know that’s what it is. If I get my butt up and go to the gym I always feel better but depression is a killer to motivation. I’m on this mission alone. Nobody around me with time is interested in going with me so I’m gonna have to find that motivation alone. I did get a recumbent bike and some free weights and I’m trying to do that every day.

I've got my nutrition under control I think. Trying to hit the protein goal everyday but sometimes I miss. Making sure to get fiber every day and so far that has kept me and the toliet in good standing. I try to drink enough everyday but some days I feel like I'm gonna float off. I'm not counting calories because all the fatty foods I usually love is kinda gross to me right now. Plus after doing the calculation to see how many calories I would need to eat to maintain my weight I know I'm probably at half that amount. If you haven't done that yet, look it up.

I’m worried about the sagging skin! I’ve had so many surgeries in the last decade (mostly ortho stuff - back, hands, arm). I just got out of debt from having my gallbladder out but I consider that win with the GLP-1s. I know I’m not going to be a young hottie but I hate the idea of having to tuck and compress loose skin for the rest of my life or get it cut off.

Just looking for feedback from other mature ladies. Suggestions? Experiences you’re having?
Hello!!!

Woman in her fifty's here! ( speak French so sorry in advance for errors) I I understand so much your text! Your weight loss is going good!! I live in Canada, with four seasons. And believe me, there is no better way to move then WALKING! No one EVER came house after a walk and regret it! All the body is moving, heart is pumping, and you smell fresh air and see sun, rain, snow. So if you are not motivate to go to gym, just take a walk. I like to have " goals", like go at the library, go to the post office, grocery. And 15 minutes will be 30 minutes and soon, 1 hour.

So if going to gym is hard, walking don't need any equipment or fancy clothes!

Good luck and give us updates!

Hi ladies,

Since I'm one of y'all, I might as well give my stats. I been on reta since 1/5/26.

Age: 52 on 3/28
Height: 5'9"
Starting weight: 255 when I started losing weight in Jan. '25
Weight when I started reta: 212
Current weight: 186

I lost my husband on 3/21/24. I figured since I have this new life now, I might as well get myself in shape. Plus it gave me something to focus on. So 1/6/25 was the start of my "weight loss journey".
I was doing keto until I started reta because I heard it works better when you eat carbs.. Now I try to avoid sugar and eat complex carbs when I can, but sometimes I'm bad. 🤣. I try to keep it under 100 a day and I usually succeed. I am bad at getting enough protein though.
I think half my problem is I don't get hungry until the evening. I've always been a night eater. This time around I just went with it while keeping my calories and macros within range.
Since I been on reta I haven't been as strict and I am still losing 1-2lbs per week. If I crave something, I figure it contains something my body needs. I am NOT a cereal eater but I been craving steel cut oats and Life cereal for some reason. I drink too much coffee and not enough water. I definitely don't get enough sleep.

That's all I can think of for now, lol.

Saw the Dr for the first time yesterday since starting on the shots. I told her I was buying from a compound/telehealth company since the prescription stuff was too expensive. I expected to get a little blowback but she just asked about how it was going. I've lost 26lbs since December! I'm hoping to lose another 50 at least but I'm pretty happy about the progress.

Ladies,
Any advice on losing more of the belly fat? I'm currently sitting at 92kgs, and adjusting my reta dose up to try for 10 more kgs.
The belly fat is still disgusting. For sure, I must have lots of visceral fat, but I hate seeing the (many) folds of subq as well.
The thing is, my arms are skinny, my legs are acceptable, so if it were not for the belly, I would probably be thinking about maintenance and just working on muscle. Sure, I could also be aiming for my "ideal" weight...not sure if that's realistic.

I'm kinda scared to add Tesa, being headache/migraine-prone.
Should add: I'm currently in the 4th week of KLOW too.

I'm 178cm.
Age: 54, still peri, nearly "done"

I have officially been on Tirz since Feb 1 and side effects are finally a little better. I didn't get any nausea after this weeks shot for the first time and I tried 4mg again. Down 11 pounds, at 1.4 lbs a week. Feels painfully slow but trying not to compare myself to others.

Now that I feel stabilized, I am thinking of adding to my routine. KPV is on my radar for overall joint pain and stomach issues. P21 for neurodegeneration and SS31 for mitochondrial repair. I don't want to pair it with MOTS-C or anything that might encourage tumor growth based on some past health issues.

What else are you all taking as an older woman that you feel is worth the cost and extra pins? I have memory issues and a muscle cramp disorder that I would like to see at least a little improvement on.

I highly suggest staying where you are until you stop having side effects, many say until you stop seeing results. The only people who benefit from you using more are the sellers of peptides.
This is a long term endeavor, not a race.

Congrats on losing 26lbs! You got this on the next 50! This is almost exactly where I am and where I need to go as well. I go to see my Dr this coming Tuesday for some issues I am having with my knee. She prescribed Weg to me Dec 31, I did get a coupon and buy it for the first month, but just could not continue that so switched. I was considering telling my Dr that I am buying from a compound company for the same reasons you put. I am glad to hear that your Dr didn't give you blowback on it, I sure hope mine doesn't either! I would like to have her work with me on it and maybe order more bloodwork eventually to make certain everything is doing good.

I am a member of this! In my mid 50's, and told my Dr in December, I had to have something to help me lose weight, it just wouldn't budge. She prescribed and I started weg in January 2026 (only purcahsed 4 doses, couldn't afford anything more). I immediately started researching alternatives and ordered tirz and moved over to it in late Feb. Interesting enough, I felt that the weg was working better for me, I felt zero food noise on that starter dose of weg. I used tirz 2.5mg and that didn't really touch the food noise. After 3 weeks, I moved up to 3.5mg, that little extra mg was the small boost I needed!
I have multiple aches and pains from injuries I have acquired from horse related accidents. The stiffness and soreness was so bad that every step I took was in pain. I started KLOW March 1 and oh my, has it been a game changer for my injuries! I do have histamine reactions to it, but they are worth it for the relief it has given me. Looking into ways to minimize the histamine reactions currently.
I have learned so much from this forum, it has been a game changer! I enjoy everyone here and am glad to be a part of it!
