Well, I replied to the wrong thread, but they are essentially parallel threads, so I’ll copy and paste here too:
The prices have been coming down steadily, albeit that still shows they have a decent margin to work with. I’m not sure what kind of overhead costs they face, but there certainly are additional costs associated with their businesses. I have no problem with capitalism, so the rate of decline to the rock bottom pricing doesn’t concern me. It’s trending in the right direction. HOWEVER, what does concern me is the rate of decline in the quality of the product. The sterility and endo issues have been increasing over the first half of this year. Additionally, there’s a rash of cloudy reta out the in the market. But in the last 2 weeks, I’ve seen more zero pep or mislabeled pep than I ever have and that’s completely unacceptable. There’s so much bunk stuff out there right now that I’ve passed on several really appealing buys because I don’t trust the quality and don’t want the hassle as we’ve also seen a rash of vendors who refuse to honor their “guarantees” lately as well.
In short, I’d rather pay a little more and get quality product. I’d be satisfied with the current prices and markup for good stuff, but there is no price that makes it a good deal if you’re just going to get crap in exchange for it.
I’m fortunate to be sitting on a decent stash of peps I bought last year. It certainly makes it easier to sit on the sidelines to see if any of them clean up their act and improve their QC. Part of me thinks those wholesale prices on the list reflect the fact that they know it’s bunk and are just trying to unload it as quickly as possible.
