Hello everyone. Thank you for allowing me to join. So i have purchased the tirzepatide peptide from a US based company. What was advertised for reconstitution was BAC, which I thought was bacteriostatic water. I received a vial that is labeled 1% benzoyl alcohol. I have googled of course but I can't find any information on this particular peptide and solution for reconstitution. Does anyone know how the peptide activity and sustainability would be affected. Or does anyone use this solution for reconstitution?? Thank you for any help

Standard bacteriostatic water is sterile water plus 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, to minimize microbial growth. So on the face of it, you have the right stuff. [The wrong stuff is just plain sterile water, or most vials labeled "reconstituting solution" which might be good for single-use preparations]

It would be a good idea to state the US-based vendor, and if possible include a pic of the bac water vial.

I am having a really hard time finding hospira bac water that’s in stock 😬
Check out Amsco Medical. They just raised the price, I think because come July there's going to be more restrictions on it. But the price is still better than other places I've seen. You can also buy individual bottles if you don't want a whole 25ct box.

There are also other places that were mentioned in this forum where you can purchase bacteriostatic water. The only thing is is that some places charge $7 per bottle. It's a little more, but the price isn't bad. It's better to buy in bulk, but if you think about it, you won't need 25 bottles for the whole year. You will find some and I wish you luck if you find it reasonably priced in bulk.

You don't have to state where you got it from, if you don't want to. It would be good, if you are comfortable to send us a pic of the product. This way we can see what you have, and if you're able to reconstitute with it for now until, you find some Hospira bac water.

Thank you so much!! Hold my hand and teach me the ways lol. I feel like a fool. I contacted the company and learned that is just the ingredient in the bacteriostatic water. In my defense the labeling was confusing!! Thank you for your kind reply

We're all here to help each other. We all learn something new here every day. Good luck to you!

I wish I had been able to stock up better on it, but the expire date deterred me. The ones I've bought have been about 2 years out, and so far I'll use a single bottle for about 4 months before switching to a new one. So it only takes me 5-6 bottles to go for a 2 year stretch. Now I'm sure unopened bottles are still good for a while past that expire date, but for how long I have no idea? 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? Without hard data, I'm hesitant to push it too far, and there really doesn't seem to be any hard data because no one wants to bother testing things past the expire date. They'd rather just say, "it's expired, toss it, buy more." Hence why I've never bought a full box of the stuff.

Imo, I feel that the expiration date is just a "soft expiration" date. I caved and panic bought a box last week. I'm going to keep the vials in the original box and shipping box to keep it dark and seal it in 1 or 2 of the large zip lock bags to keep out humidity, and use as I need them. Like anything, I'm going to watch out for cloudiness/discoloration with the bac water and also my comfort level to keep using it. I feel it will be good a lot longer than the year expiration date, sealed and unopened until, use. That is just my opinion and my comfort level in using it.

I agree with this strategy, and by the case, if i use 1 per month that is a 2 year supply.
Divided by 104 weeks, it is not much per week and I don't mind tossing a heavily pinned vial even if not empty.
It really is an incidental cost in the scheme of things, even at the higher rate.

So true 👍

I've been debating on purchasing some extra, just not sure how comfortable I'll be a year after expire or more. Right now I only use it to dilute the 15mg pens. Also looked into the Bacteriostatic saline, which hasn't been caught up in the price increases, but really can't find much info on whether it'll work ok with Mounjaro. Some people say it might cause precipitate, but can't find anything conclusive on it.

Benzyl Alcohol is extremely stable when kept in a cool dark place. I would use it a decade out.
