Exodus that simple?

To @peptideusername and everyone else:

With the Exodus wallet, I'm trying to send USDT using the Solana network, but the only network options available are Ethereum and Tron. Do you use a different wallet instead?

I am so glad that you posted this. I just downloaded exodus and I was having the same issue. I finally took the plunge into crypto after watching a couple of videos on stairway...thanks for the info!

Found the answer. I needed to change the settings in Assets:

So I enabled SOL as an asset/network for USDT. I disabled the other networks for USDT to make things more foolproof.
I have more stupid questions:

Is USDT on SOL different from USDT on ETH or TRON? am I just picking a network to move the coin on or do i need to pick a lane when purchasing and stick t it all the way through?

Not a stupid question! I was learning all of this in the last couple of weeks. Best to stick with one for now or else you will continue losing $ in fees every time you swap. I just kept googling until I was able to put it all together in my brain, LOL I wish it was as simple as gathering all of the change in my pockets together for a grand total!

Adding to what others have said.

It's best to think of USDT-sol, USDT-erc20 (ETH), and USDT-trc20 (Tron) as completely different things.

For example, it's easier and cheaper to change USDT-sol into SOL than it is to change it into USDT-erc20.

Someone needs to create an app called COBOL Crypto to make crypto even more "interesting," with a text-only interface for COBOL commands. And you can only type in the wallet address, in binary, so it is even longer as just ones and zeros. I would order a lot less often and save money 😀

So it looks like the only Tether you buy on Coinbase is all ERC(ETH)

now all I gotta do is get Coinbase to let go of the hold they have on my $ SMH

Yeah, if you want anything SOL the easiest way is through venmo or paypal since PYUSD is part of the SOL network. So you can transfer PYUSD to your exodus wallet and then use the Jupiter Web3 app to convert to anything else on the SOL network for a few pennies.

If you're in Coinbase be sure to not fall for their "Base" network! I don't know of any vendor who accepts Base.
Like their specific coin, the way Crypto . com has their own? I bought BTC (bc I got a $50 promo in BTC) and used it to buy USDT, transferred the first batch to Exodus and hopefully will be able to send the rest tomorrow

It's a network. When you transfer crypto to your wallet you might be prompted to use it. Buy a bit of Eth or Sol to cover the minuscule fees you'll incur.

Just a tip if you're using Bitcoin. It's volatile so pay in the exact Bitcoin amount the vendor quotes, not the dollar amount. This removes any ambiguity in the transaction. Bitcoin moves on it's own network.

So I’m getting ready to buy BTC via my cash app account I already have and send it to my exodus wallet. I have never dealt with crypto before so this does make me nervous. Will I have to wait for the payment from cashapp to clear into my exodus wallet? Or it is pretty much instant? Or should I just use the exodus wallet to buy the BTC as well as pay for my order with it?

You can buy it directly from exodus. For a test I bought about 80 bucks worth and it gave me almost 78 worth in 2 minutes. When u purchase peps then it's decentralized and no one controls ur money there so in theory what you do with exodus funds is anonymous and can't be frozen. In reality if you were a really good criminal they know where every penny is and could seize you're 27 million.

I was just looking through exodus. Seems like it might be better to just use my debit card and purchase through there. One less step to get my crypto. I’ll probably end up going that route to see how I like it. Thanks!

I have found the lowest cost way to acquire crypto is through paypal. You can link to your bank account or deposit cash at thousands of retail locations (CVS, Walgreens, Kroger etc).

Buy pyUSD and a little be of SOL. No fee for pyUSD, send both to your exodus wallet and use the Jupiter exchange onthe web3 app to convert the pyUSD to any coin on the SOL network for very low fees. Rather than messing with USDT and figuring out the vendor's network and then swaping your coins to that network, just pay in SOL or ETH or TRON if they take it.

SOL is relatively stable and no confusion as to which network you need to use. If the vendor takes pyUSD you don't even need to convert it. Just send it from paypal to your wallet and then to the vendor. pyUSD is only on the SOL network, so again, no confusion around which network to use.

BTC is also easy but very unstable and the price can change from the time you send to the time the vendor receives, and then your order is held up because you're short $2.

Communication with vendors is already difficult and slow, so I try to keep it to a minimum. Ask for their SOL address and send it, DM a copy of the hash/receipt, done. Sometimes they will give you the wrong USDT network or don't specify the network, then you risk your money being lost into the ether. or you lose a day waiting for them to provide the details you need to send to their wallet.

You CAN buy crypto through exodus with a debit card but it tends to be relatively expensive buying that way.

For taxes, I used Koinly.io. It connected to my Exodus wallets, download all of my transactions calculated my gain/loss and provides the reports to import into Turbotax. It probably added 10 minutes to my tax filing process and if you are just buying and spending coins you won't have enough gains or losses to impact your taxes either way.

tried to transfer BTC from cash app to exodus wallet but transactions refused so attempted to transfer to coinbase but keep getting same message that was being refused as there were too many scams associated with those addresses

It can appear this way when you haven't waited long enough for your Bitcoin purchase to process. I know Bitcoin purchased in PayPal takes at minimum 3-5 business days to process. I've learned to just buy the PYUsd (no fee) and convert it to what's needed for the vendor once transferred into my wallet.

I'm not saying that's what's happening to you just that processing time is something to be aware of.

You could also try to send a smaller amount to exodus like 75.00 at a time. I transferred from paypal to exodus and it would only allow me to transfer amounts under 100.00 unless I waited the 5 business days. Then after the 5 days I could transfer larger amounts
