Are you happy that you found peptides?

Reta has given me my life back, and probably extended it by a decade or more. In fact, since I started almost a year ago, I could have been dead by now. Fact. Being obese (38 BMI) and an alcoholic is not a winning combination. Bad habits ruled the day. Those days are in the rearview mirror now. As far as the other peptides I've researched go, my only regret is that I didn't find them years ago because they have enriched my life in so many ways.

I'm in an engineering field and manage two teams of extremely smart people. Since cycling some of the cognitive peptides, I can now hang better with the technical conversations. Last week, several questions came up about a particular problem-solving approach and I was able to articulate the pros and cons, in detail, and show that the correct path was obvious. They just looked at me with their mouths open. I don't think I could have done that a year ago, and I don't think it was the placebo effect, but it happened.

I put a lot of research, like I always do, into my decision on what peptides would provide benefit based on my specific circumstances and there are some I will not touch. I also won't do oils, gear or SARMS (are they the same thing?) as those days have passed. I also didn't use them in my prime, so why start now? Other peptides are in the same category. But overall, they have enhanced my abilities, my mood and lifestyle and I don't see myself going back.

I like it. A think piece of sorts.

People are diving in head first without any reading or educating themselves on a lot of this stuff. Its just like gear...some folks go too hard, and I think it's always going to be that way, get bigger, stronger, leaner, more vascular.....until they die. (yes, I know one personally)

Many people on this thread make great points....we now have a word that describes it perfectly "looksmaxxing" but this obsession has always been there, we just didn't have social media pushing it to us at mass.

Thanks for your post, its nice to have multiple angles to make these decisions.

I don't think it has anything to do with people thinking they are not enough. Most everyone I know that take peptides are not doing it to change themselves but improve their quality of life. If they take for peptides a day for mental, physical, anti aging, and weight, they are doing so to improve their day to day life. Even if it's just placebo effect, if they feel better day to day then it works. I'm not seeing a problem with wanting a better version of yourself. I have not encountered a single person that feels peptides will change them from a 40 something overweight person to a 25 year old flawless model. Most are just trying to improve themselves overall, not morph into a whole different person. This is just my experience.......

I'm very happy to have found peptides. I was floundering in post menopause weight gain and nothing helped - not running, dieting, abstaining from alcohol - nothing. My sister happened to mention that she and her husband were using peptides and asked if I was interested. She walked me through everything I needed last June and I've never looked back. Both husband and I in this together. I am FINALLY back to my wedding weight (married 38 years) and feeling better than when I was 30 years old - I'm 63. We are in this for the long haul.

I will say doing as much research as possible has been key. I double check everything - and have only added a peptide after much research. So far, I only pin tirz (with a little reta on the side 3 days after tirz pin), NAD each day before I run, KLOW during the week, and I have just added glutathione this week.

I am more interested in longevity medicine now then I was before Glips. Glips saved my life and health, exercise fuels me now. I haven’t tried any other products except Tensofensine. Have been happy the last 3 years with Tirz, Sema and Cagri.

Yes, I've always heard about them since I follow celebrity/sports culture heavily and they openly talk about NAD, gluta and of course the iconic Oz or hearing athletes using peps for faster recovery. It's like an open secret. But I thought there was a huge barrier to get it & that pep therapy was only accessible for rich ppl.

I think a lot of them are hit or miss of course, so the thing is you really have to try it out yourself before writing it off. I thought it was all hype until I stumbled on a random cognitive one which helped me tremendously.

Before all this I was super into nootropics and obscure supplements anyways lol so I was used to using "experimental" stuff anyways only different is the form factor is an inj and not a capsule

And yeah I noticed in the community ppl are always chasing "the next best thing" while having a mountain of kits in their possession. It can get wonky. I find it extremely ironic ppl think they can find their life's solution in a vial when they shun pharma for selling you hopes and dreams in a pill. Two sides of the same coin. I think everyone should approach it w/low expectations either way.

I also do not believe in "the best stack", I see these peps the same way as prescription meds, you take what you need when you need it. And less is more.

The only thing I regret was not finding out about peptides sooner.

My health went downhill during the pandemic and honestly peptides wouldve been a huge help.

I would rather be obsessed with optimization than be stuck at home doing nothing and eating and drinking away. Now im like entering my 2nd prime.

I use to hate on GLP's a lot. Mostly because I was only exposed to the highly marketed pharmaceutical versions and saw them as another money making leash to shackle the average joe to a life or death form of a subscription model for the rest of your existence. Having to justify to your insurance company that you're likely going to cost them more money overweight, inflamed, depressed and metabolically compromised than it takes to purchase a relatively simple chain of amino acids marked up 10,000%...ruined my viewpoint on GLP's really good.

I watched a good friend of mine slowly spiral into a state of health that almost killed him because of his weight. He'd put in work, try to eat right; his doc would put him on all these medicines that made his life worse.

Then suddenly, upon getting a second opinion at the request of his spouse he saw a doc that dictated the medical necessity of prescribing whatever Tirz analogue is sold. Over months he (almost effortlessly) reversed course with significant improvements. THAT is when my opinion changed.

I started reading up on GLP's and other peptides. Saw the difference they were making in other people's lives. It was nothing short of amazing.

Now, on the flip side, I think in our modern day society many people run the risk of full on neuroticism once they run down the rabbit hole of self improvement. Just got to keep your head.

I am super happy I found glp1 and trt. They have been a game changer for so much. As for other peptides, I enjoy taking them and I do see some benefit from them such as klow stack. But I do agree with the original post this can become an obsession.

My experience in this was: how awesome tirz was and what else could I possibly be missing.
Honestly, most everything else pales in comparison and my initial push is gone.

If something comes out that has that much major impact on my life, I would likely be interested.

Many of us were compulsive eaters, that leaves a vacuum that naturally could be filled.
Maybe it is good that these are being studied for removing compulsive/addictive behavior..
same. when i first started tirz 2.5 years ago i was like oh i gotta try everything now! tesa, ghkcu, cag, kpv, pe 22, selank, semax whatever, you name it. none of it really did anything for me lmao. so now im just tirz and tirz only.

After stocking completely up on Tirz (probably enough for a couple of years) I am slowly studying everything else but catch my self often thinking I want to research one of every thing lol then I rein myself back in and stick to my original goal of calming down histamine response -MCAS AGS

First off, thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful post. I've had similar thoughts about my own new obsession, and about the whole peptide movement, but never had the time or inclination to articulate what those thoughts mean, especially in the context of this apparent revolution in self-care and self- medicating - in the absence of full scientific approval. Surprisingly some commenters disagree with the idea of even questioning what or why we're here, but I think for some of us, maybe in the older cohort, we may be interested in the philosophical and psychological aspects of the compromises we made to start a course of peptides. Overwhelmingly, we likely simply decided to take a chance and follow the herd, a herd made of mcuh slimmer people, people we wanted to look like.

I saw this study yesterday, based on exit interviews in one of the reta studies. This is the main results from the abstract
Perceived benefits of treatment for obesity with retatrutide: A qualitative study of patients in a phase 2 clinical trial DOI: 10.1016/j.obpill.2025.100220

Thirty-one of 36 retatrutide-treated participants reported changes in eating behaviors within the trial's first 8 weeks. Participants described eating less often or smaller portions, feeling hungry less often, feeling full after eating, having different food preferences, and feeling more in control of their eating. They also described feeling good about themselves or self-confident (n = 32) and feeling happy (n = 25). Participants reported improvements in mobility or ability to perform physical activities (n = 27), energy levels (n = 24), social activities involving food (n = 18), exercise (n = 19), and leisure activities (n = 17), as well as reduction in clothing size (n = 24). Some retatrutide-treated participants reported reduced participation in social activities due to adverse events (n = 2) or new eating habits (n = 2) and frustration due to disappointing weight loss (n = 3). Thirty of 36 retatrutide-treated participants had weight reduction as a goal, and 76.7 % reported achieving their goal.

This is actually pretty amazing for any drug, not sure you would get more than 2/3rds or 3/4 of the people saying it made them feel good about themselves and more confident and happy if you had fed them cocaine or meth for 8 weeks. As by 8 weeks they would be pretty frazzled and some would be going psychotic. Anti depressants are not that effective either.

Honestly read this whole thing twice.
for me personally peptides have been a real positive in my life. but ur 100% right about that line between using them as a tool vs needing them to feel ok. i think iv felt that pull myself at points where its like ok am i actually feeling better or am i just looking for the next thing.

the part about looksmaxing realy stuck with me. cause it does start as just wanting to feel good and look healthier and recover better and then before u know it ur thinking 5 steps ahead about what to stack next. been there more then i want to admit.
I think the difference for me has been trying to stay honest with myself about WHY im doing what im doing. if its cause i actually need help recovering from training or sleep is off thats one thing. but if its just chasing the feeling of being better than i was yesterday that gets dangerous fast.

The line u wrote about ur natural self never being enough is exactly the trap. cause peptides arent the problem the mindset around them is. people will find that obsession with or without compounds. but the compounds make it easier to keep feeding it.

Not sure yet, the verdict is still out. Have been using HCG with TRT for 5 years and it does add a bit extra libido which is nice but really just trying to preserve what functionality I do have with my nuts in case society collapses and I gotta rely on my balls again for what they will produce anyway.

As far as Reta, seems to be working, it shortened my summer cut in half from last year, will see how much I continue to lose though. I will say, even though it’s lessened, the anhedonia sucks enough that I’ll likely trying Tirz if I get to my goal weight and want help maintaining it to see if it doesn’t include this shitty apathy I feel towards a lot of things.

As far as BPC157 and TB500, just started it and hoping it will heal a long term nagging left shoulder/bicep pain from lifting. If that goes away, 100% worth it.

I haven’t used them outside of specific functionality as a tool. Now if they all work wonders… may start that slippery slope but until then, don’t have a huge laundry list of things I want to try. Likely cjc/ipa for the winter bulk.
