I have Afib with RVR. What has been your experience been with increased heartrate from Reta?

I've only had one episode of Afib- but it sticks with ya forever!
I really want to add reta to my tirz, but I hear about the elevated HR and I worry it will agitate my heart. I take beta blockers for the Afib RVR, so maybe that will combat the heartrate issue?

Is the elevated HR temporary?
Is there a sizable group of people that don't get those symptoms at all?

I swapped to Reta in December. It still increases my RHR by around 10-12ish bpm. Nebivolol has not made an impact on it, despite me hoping it would.

It doesn't seem to do much to my maximum HR during exercise - that has been the same before/after.

In the studies it seemed to abate after 4-6 months for many people.

Old lady here. After a successful and blissful time on Tirz, and at a great weight, I tried Reta. It was the new kid in town (exotic and expensive). I loved it with a passion for the energy boost, and for how I could eat more! I thought it would be the perfect maintenance drug.

Wrong.

Number one, I did eat more but I kept losing weight. A lot of it. Which, being the eating-disordered mess that I have always been, I loved — way too much.

Number two, the heart rate. It increased from day one, stabilized at an absurdly high rate, and never lowered until I (most reluctantly) stopped Reta ... after a big, big heart health scare.

Had never had significant heart issues before. Maybe a coincidence? — maybe not.

You've had a heart scare and it sounds like it made an impact on you. No one can predict how Reta will affect you. You might be in the majority who can handle it!

My advice is to pause, and consider, before trying it, how it will feel if you are in the minority who can't.

(And of course, like others have wisely counseled, start low and go slow if you decide to proceed. And monitor the heck out of your heart.)

PS. Tirz works phenomenally, but after a time if a person needs/wants stronger appetite suppression, a sprinkle of Sema often does the trick. Be safe, be well, good luck with your goals 💜

I'm a bit jump for about 24 hours after each weeks pin. HR is up a little. I'm a runner so my RHR is usually 38-40 at night... Now is 42-45. I can live with it... Not a lot of weight to lose, so I fancy getting off it after meeting my goal

Thank you for sharing this info. Appreciate it!😉

What is your tirz dose? Can you increase it? With a history of afib with rvr I wouldn't try reta, if it was me, personally. I'd try cagri first.

Not a medical professional, not medical advice. Just what my personal comfort level would be.
7.5mg once a week.
I knowwwwww, I should just titrate up. But I want to be a low dose girly.
I'm not comfortable with cagri, so I dont want that. And I just hear so many good things on Reta, but I should accept it's not for me either.

I'll probably just stack sema after seeing what going up in tirz does.

There's zero shame in higher doses! Some people don't even start losing weight until 10mg!

Stick with what's clinically proven unless you have a really, really good reason to deviate. You're still at less than half the max dose! (They're currently testing up to 25mg!) You're still a low dose girlie. 🥰

Please report back on your survodutide experience please. I’m reading it acts like Reta minus increased heart rate. Curious to hear from those that have tried it.😉
i think the appetite suppression is better but i still get an increased heart rate but not nearly as bad as reta. like 100bpm vs 130.

I have afib w/rvr and my heart rate has not increased at all.

Before I started reta, my resting heart rate, according to Apple Health, which uses my Apple Watch to keep track, was always in the low 40s. I started about 6 weeks ago, taking 2 mg reta per week. On its highest day, my resting heart rate was 57. Recently, it has been in the high 40s. I suspect it will go back into the low 40s but I won't mind if it stays the same.

Y'all are scaring me, my resting is 85-95 😅 Maybe I table the idea of reta.

Mine sits in the low 90s on reta. I wouldn't want to get into the triple digits, but my RHR was high even when I was playing soccer/basketball/etc. and had great cardio back in my youth.
