My Reta story begins!

I was waking up at 4am for about a week, and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm normally a 8-5:30/6:30 guy. Not the Reta, because it recently started. It was just my brain going into overload thinking about everything. My wife made me take half a gummy we had here, and bam. I'l do it tonight too. Asleep in 15 minutes and slept till 5:30. Still getting way to much to pee. I really need to go to the Urologist.
DITTO ! That's exactly it. My brain just won't shut down which makes falling asleep difficult.
And yes, when i wake up at 4am, it's almost impossible to get back to sleep.

Well, we figured it out. My sodium has been low as shown my recent blood work. I was drinking so much water, I was washing the sodium and a couple other things out peeing so much. That getting up 5 times a night to pee was way to much. I was obviously worried about it, hence the tossing, turning and getting up early.

Week 6 begins!
  • Stats:
    • 5'7, female
    • Highest weight: 221 (lost 46 prior to Reta)
    • Starting weight: 175
    • Current weight: 163 (down 2 pounds from last week, yay!)
    • 1st Goal weight: 160
    • 2nd Goal weight: 140
  • Dose: Took my 6th dose this morning – I slightly increased again this week, from 1.5 mg to 2 mg. I've been having fairly frequent cravings over the past week and am hoping the increase will address that.
  • Blood Pressure: 110/64, pulse 52. No real change since starting Reta
  • Sides: Minimal sides, mostly on shot day and the day after I get some bouts of dizziness and nausea but it only lasts a few seconds. I do have some tiredness/ongoing sleep issues.
  • Sleep: Still waking up at 5:30 / 6 am and mostly unable to get back to sleep, despite still needing more sleep. Today I'm meeting with my doctor to lower my thyroid meds dose and we'll see if that helps at all.
  • Thoughts: My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks and if by God I can have a "15.." appear on my scale, that will be the best birthday gift ever!! I'm going to be working hard these next couple weeks to achieve that (knees and lower back, don't try me you mofos!) Wish me luck!!! 🎂

  • Wish me luck!!! 🎂
Best of luck! 🙂
Thanks for a very interesting post. A note on reconstitution, I listened to a great interview with Janoshik last week and he said not to worry about the fact that the fast and "aggresive" reconstitution (the BAC getting sucked in quick), as apparently it won't affect GLP-1s and they are really stable.
BTW, did you get your stuff tested?

Thanks! And funny coincidence, I just came across that same info regarding the "aggressive" reconstitution from Peter Magic (Janoshik) last week as well. Like you mention, he said it's fine. There's no need for angling to the side, or trickling it down, he said you can even shake it, it's all fine, it's not at all that delicate. That's good to know as my 2nd reconstitution is coming up shortly. And I don't really like the idea of injecting possibly "unclean air" in there if I don't need to.

Regarding testing - I did not 3rd party test my first batch, but that is only because I got it from Uther and Enzo specifically (prior to all the recent changes over there). He tests every batch and is well-known for that. I would not have had the same trust level with any other vendor. I have 3 more shipments on the way from other vendors and I'm in 3rd party test groups for all of it.

Best of luck! 🙂

I didn’t realize Janoshik was an actual person. Opps…

He mentioned it's originally his internet nickname he used back in the days 🙂 The guy is Slovak (though the company is in Czechia) and being from Poland myself, the name sounded familiar and rang a bell immediately for me. Janoshik is both a Slovak and a Polish legendary folk hero (kind of like Robin Hood).
What's funny too, his surname is Magic (pronounced mah-gitch in Slovak) but sounds so adequately to what he does when you read it like the English word 😀

Geez what a lovely, supportive community this is!

@Elgordoboy @WLBLD @CNCCurrency @Estarossa19 @Dydanz @FortySeven @anhydrous Thank you for the encouragement and kind words! Really appreciate it.

@BNLFL Haha thanks! I'm not sure Hallmark will employ me; I swear too much. 🤭 Thanks for the reminder about protein, that is actually one of my concerns, 1 gram per pound of lean body mass, that's a LOT. I'll def need to find a decent-tasting protein shake...
When I first started, a friend (who was not supportive) suggested a body composition scale and reminded me about "getting enough protein." She warned me that people "really just lose muscle mass on those things." I was determined this would work out and have really been thrilled to show pics of my body comp progression to her (my body fat has gone down almost 20% and my muscle mass has increased. I know a Dexa is the gold standard, but the scale only cost me about 30 bucks on Amazon. If I was going to suggest anything, that would be a body comp scale (and red light if you are concerned about hair loss).

Love my Renpho scale for this.

Yep, one of the first things I did as I started Reta was to buy a decent smart scale, I've been using it every week to monitor muscle mass, visceral fat etc. Love it! Thanks for the tip about hair loss & red light, will keep in mind if I notice any hair issues.

Week 7 begins!
  • Stats:
    • 5'7, female
    • Highest weight: 221 (lost 46 prior to Reta)
    • Starting weight: 175
    • Current weight: 161 (down 2 pounds from last week, yay!)
    • 1st Goal weight: 160 (almost there!!!)
    • 2nd Goal weight: 140
  • Dose: Took my 7th dose this morning – no change, happy with how the past week has gone regarding food noise so I’m sticking with 2 mg.
  • Blood Pressure: nice & low, no change since starting Reta
  • Sides: Minimal sides, mostly on shot day and the day after I get some bouts of dizziness and nausea but it only lasts a few seconds. I do have some ongoing sleep issues. Still waking up at 5:30 / 6 am and unable to get back to sleep, despite still needing more sleep. It’s not my thyroid meds, we ruled that out last week, so still working on a solution here.
  • Thoughts: A fun coincidence is that I started my reta as soon as I got the delivery after the chaos of CNY, and math-wise, going by 2 pounds a week, that means that next week (also my birthday) SHOULD be the week I hit 159 pounds!! 👏 That’ll be my first “goal weight” achieved and a big deal for me as I haven’t seen a “15..” on the scale in about 25 years. AND it moves me out of the “Overweight” BMI category and into the “Normal” category. 🌟🥂🥁🪇🎉 I shall celebrate with a massive cake and gain 3 pounds back immediately. Kidding. But I’m definitely having a slice of the most delicious cake I can find, as I strut about town, feeling bonita!

I love this thread and really appreciate you posting because I think it helps others reflect on their journeys. What's your plan with hitting your first goal weight?

I am 10 weeks in and met my first goal weight myself and am working on tapering off for a while to try to make the weight loss more sustainable. I hear the key to this is establishing a proper diet as your appetite comes back. Like you I had been doing intermittent fasting going into it but my understanding is that our insulin sensitivity coming off a GLP is a huge asset or liability depending on what you do. Basically your body will be ready to gain weight but if you feed it a good macro balance and workout it will use that hunger to rapidly build muscle.

Still have the sleep issues, waking up at 5:30 / 6 am and unable to get back to sleep, despite still needing more sleep. That is a bit annoying but hopefully will subside with time.

    • Well I’m feeling PLEASED AS PUNCH!! With the achievement of my first “goal weight” I’m also for the first time in many, many years, in the “Normal” BMI category. 🌟🥂🥁🪇🎉 Normal my friends!! 😊😊😊 Not Obese. Not even Overweight. I can’t quite get my brain around it yet… I feel like it’s just a happy little dream I had and the next time I walk past the mirror I’ll be back to looking like my old fluffy self. WEIRD. But awesome.
    • I’ve had a pair of jeans in my closet, gathering dust for 20 years, impossibly small I thought. Well, I braced myself the other day, and said it’s okay if you can’t get them up yet, there’s still more to lose, but let’s just see… can you believe it, they FIT! And not even hard to get them up!! Oh wow. These are old-school NON-STRETCH jeans too, and you know those mofos don’t lie. Lol
    • My birthday is in a couple days and I’m going out on the weekend to celebrate this weight loss goal and strut about with my NORMAL sized ass! 😊😊😊 God I love Reta so very very much.

DISCLAIMER: This may not be of any interest to the more experienced on this site, but as a "newbie", I found this type of posting both informative and reassuring to read.

Today, I took my very first shot of Reta! 🎉 It's also my very first GLP-1 ever. I'm feeling proud as punch. My goodness, there are a LOT of steps to even get to this point, but so very satisfying to finally be in this next phase of the experience. Which I could not have done without the expertise and generous sharing of information on this site, so a big thank you to all here.

Backstory - struggled with weight all my adult life, gained and lost the same pounds for years. 101 different diets. All worked for a bit, but weren't sustainable long-term. I have been interested in a GLP1 since I first heard of them a number of years ago, but I don't have diabetes and while "fluffy", not quite fluffy enough that my doctor will prescribe me one. SIGH. I hemmed and hawed about paying out-of-pocket, but my God, so expensive!

One fortuitus day, on Reddit (I know) I heard murmurings of a way to acquire a GLP1 and NOT pay $400 a month... I was instantly fascinated. Reddit though, such chaos. From there I thankfully found my way here quite quickly and to a few other "beginner friendly" resources. Spent weeks reading, reading, searching, reading. My initial thoughts were: "this is absolute insanity, no way in hellll am I buying suspect white powder from another country, sneaking it through customs, and then trying to mix it up MYSELF and INJECTING it into myself!" What in the ever-loving F? 😀 I've come a long way since then.. emboldened by reading the many experiences of others, and the realization that these are just normal folks, they're not exclusively chemists or roid-rage-gym-bros. They're everyday people. My bad for assuming.

I spent some time learning the reconstitution process and while very daunting initially, it's not actually that complex. You can't be a moron about it of course, but if you have a functioning brain, you can certainly do it. Then researching dosing, safe sources, testing, supplies needed etc. And when I finally thought I was ready to place an order.. omg crypto?? I have to fucking pay in crypto?? I don't know anything about crypto and my brain is TIRED y'all. Anyway after a little flailing hissy fit, I got over myself and got back to learning. Crypto payments too, seem very very confusing initially - exchanges, wallets, addresses, stablecoins, networks WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS HOLY?!! SOMEONE HELP MEEEE. And the kind people on the internet, they did help me. With simple user guides and helpful pointers. Can we talk about how terrifying that first purchase is though? Did I just send hundreds of dollars into the abyss? Do I just wait for 3 weeks now in silence and hope a parcel shows up at my door instead of the customs officers coming to arrest me? 🙂

Well last night a parcel DID show up at my door, without any fanfare at all. No doorbell buzzer, no email, no phone call. Just silently there on my front step. In keeping with this whole secret-and-clandestine affair I suppose. It was all I could do to wait until today to take my first dose.

This morning I re-watched my favourite reconstitution videos, quadruple checked my calculations, and began. They said to inject the Hospira BAC water slowly and to the side of the powder, but zoooom! it was sucked right out of the syringe instantly... well.... okay I guess. Small fail on my part there. Everything mixed up perfectly clear. Now, the moment of truth. Did I mention I have a needle phobia? Yeah. Had to take some deep breaths, and broke out in a little sweat on my upper lip lol. I was so nervous. But I jaw-clenched my way through it and now I am SO PLEASED.

Today I am going to celebrate with some nice treat. It's the starting point of what I'm hoping will be the pathway to the best shape of my life.

I am starting with 1 mg Reta for 4 weeks and then will assess. If losing, will stay there, if not really losing, will increase to 1.5 or 2 mg.

5'7 female

Highest weight: 221
Current weight: 175
(Recently lost those 46 through intermittent fasting & a year of loss/grief)
1st Goal weight: 160
2nd Goal weight: 140

I had been doing 23/1 intermittent fasting, but I may now switch to more frequent but small meals, if I'm not struggling with hunger every waking hour of the day.
I incorporated high-intensity sports 3 x a week about 2 months ago, and will be adding in some weight-lifting on a couple days as I enjoy that more than cardio anyway. Always get min 10,000 steps anyway.

I am hypothyroid and will consult with my doctor in a month or so regarding any needed medication adjustments.

I bought a smart-scale so I can watch that I don't lose too much muscle mass as I go.

Very very grateful for everyone that has shared knowledge, information, stories, encouragement along the way, and cannot wait to see how the future unfolds with Reta! 🙂 🙂 🙂

PS. One thing that took me aback each time was the sizes of the various items. For some reason I pictured Hospira BAC much larger bottles, and even more so for the Reta vials. WAY smaller than I'd imagined lol, THESE ARE FOR ANTS!! Also the way volumes of liquid look in different sized syringes and vials, very unexpected for me. Ten units is going to be half this vial, how can this possibly be 10 doses in here (then I extract it and it's like "oh.... okay, that's fine then") 😀
I laughed a few times while reading this because I was exactly the same when learning about reconstituting & crypto etc. but as you said, if your brain functions, you can do it 🤣 welcome to the club, you'll honestly hit your goal weight in no time, you don't have much to lose! and reta works it's magic rather fast. have fun with your newfound interest in peps!

I don't plan any changes now that I've hit my first goal weight. I have more to lose, so I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing, until I get to my second goal weight. Then probably see if a bit more wants to come off or not (that will be uncharted territory for me so I'll have to assess once there)... and then I'll stay at whatever lowest-possible-dose allows me to maintain. 🙂 For me, I expect all the "food noise" to return if I stop reta. So I'm not intending to stop.

Congrats on making your goal weight! And how have you found the tapering off? I'd love to hear your experience as you go along.

Tapering off has been great. My RS hasn't had much food noise even with a dramatically decreased dose and the weight loss has continued. I'm sure it will return but we are taking it slow and making sure there are only healthy choices as we approach 0. With the half life there is more in the blood than just that each dose, so its a matter of spacing and decreasing quantity, sitting at the same dose for back to back doses across 2+ weeks so you can really tell how it feels. The last thing RS wants is a rebound and it seems like that may be possible.

When I need to get more out of limited hours of sleep, I take 1-2 ZMA capsules before bed. I’ll often wake up an hour before my alarm goes off, panicking for a split second, thinking I overslept because I feel so rested.

Thanks for this, I’ve had no luck with magnesium bisglycinate… ZMA seems to be that + zinc. But I’m desperate for some restful sleep. 😮‍💨

Idk what it is about that combo but it hits way different than Zinc alone for me. Hope it’s the same for you!

    • I finally threw away all (7) pairs of various sizes of “too big” jeans. Felt good! Even the smaller ones I’d held onto for 20 years that now fit (moral victory!) but are just no longer in style. I bought 2 new pairs that fit and it feels good not to be walking around in sloppy pants. But no more than 2 as I am not yet in my Final Form.
    • Body composition is so bizarre, my collarbones – no where to be seen! Hip bones could cut you since a few weeks ago.

  • Stats:
    • 5'7, female
    • Highest weight: 221 (lost 46 just prior to Reta)
    • Starting weight: 175
    • Current weight: 149 (down 2 pounds from last week, 26 since starting Reta)
    • 1st Goal weight: 160 (Achieved!!! )
    • 2nd Goal weight: 140
  • Dose: Took my 12th dose this morning – stayed at 3 mg.
  • Blood Pressure: 106/63, pulse 57. No change since starting Reta
  • Sides: Really just the sleep issues, lacking in the deep, refreshing sleep. Ack!
  • Activity: Racquet sports 3-4 times a week as well as some weightlifting in the gym after a long time away.
  • Thoughts:
    • I am now less than my weight in high school, what a mind-blowing thing! My brain hasn’t really caught up to that idea, still feels surreal.
    • I’m within 9 pounds of goal weight and getting so pumped.. I think it’s actually gonna happen this time!! 5 more weeks or so…👏
    • Holy smokes, the amount of things that do not fit anymore and need to be purged. Not just the pants & sweaters (which I had considered) but all of my expensive swimsuits. 😩 And bras! 😖 And coats! 😢 They are ridiculous looking now. Ack to the money spent there, but definitely wouldn’t trade back! 🪇
