"New" users are in moderation for now

I have a wedding to attend and will be gone until some time tomorrow, and since an unfortunate emotionally damaged person is having another episode I've put all "new" users into the moderation queue for posts to be manually approved. Some of you who are more active than others may get caught up in this and I apologize but I'd rather err on the side of caution than let someone who is mentally unstable run amok whilst I'm away.

There's an algorithm on the back end that bases it on how long since registered combined with post count, number of posts read, reputation points, etc.

I've been trying to do some manually as well to get a little ahead of the algorithm, but there have been about 40 new accounts registered in the past few days that look suspicious so I'm being pulled in multiple directions with the limited time I have.

Yes lol, although I believe original posts are scored a little higher in the algorithm.

it jumps up with every message I guess, but I didn't watch it much myself before 😉 just realized my status changed and my messages count was showing 301

it still counts, I think admin overestimated the algorithm, its probably just a few conditions like:
if((message_count>=300) & (days_registered>=100)) ...

Exactly! Some need to be spoon fed. I like to read, make notes (usually screenshots or saves), and research if I don’t know an answer.

Yes, many posts are still being moderated since there has been an influx of suspicious registrations and spam posts in the past several days.

I'm in Denver this week for work and I'm trying to approve posts on my phone as quick as I can but please be patient if it takes a few hours.

We're still seeing a lot of attempted spam registrations/posts, but I tweaked the settings a little to try to make the user promotion algorithm kick in a little sooner. We'll see how it works...

That's crazy... Not something I would have thought to be a "BIG" issue.

I tweaked the settings a little to try to make the user promotion algorithm kick in a little sooner

I did notice a lot of "new members" changed to "member" quite recently.

you only need now to push number of messages to 300, you will be soon Senior Member, which you should be already btw. !!!

That is great news. When I try to help someone asking for help by the time I make it out of comment jail 3 people have already replied. Pretty awkward at times.

Like others have said, I'm not much of an original thread poster/creater, but really do like reading through everything and where I feel I can add value, respond to others' posts. The Member, New Member titles disappeared for a week or so but are now back. I wonder if the comment jail has started back. Or maybe it’s a glitch.
