Zero buzz at all - 100% just empty calories that made me feel gross. It is no joke that this stuff could cure alcoholism.Did you notice yourself getting a buzz sooner/with less drinks? Or just a worse hangover with none of the enjoyment?

This !I've had two beers in 8 months on Reta, and each of those took an hour to drink. This is after having been a hard drinker for over 20 years. It wasn't even anything that I was aware of, or consciously trying to do, but I have lost all desire for alcohol. People can drink in front of me, or try to twist my arm, and they are no longer triggers for me. I'm just not interested anymore. I'll always have some around for this effect alone, because I like that alcohol, or the absence of it, isn't a driving force in my life any longer.
Yeah, I don't even want to attempt it.I feel like that now, I can only imagine the effects being worse on reta
You will drink much less even if you want to drink more, I have tried. If you can manage to drink enough, it hits harder because of slow stomach emptying and less food I think so pay closer attention to your tipsy meter than usual!Has anyone here who normally enjoys being drunk actually been drunk while on reta? I understand the lack of desire to actually drink, but how does it feel when you are drinking a substantial amount?
I've lost interest in going out getting drunk over the last year or so, but not because of reta, I've only been on it for 2 weeks. I just got tired of it and I'm more focused on my goals than caring about getting drunk. Saying that, there are a couple occasions coming up in the next couple months where I'm basically scheduling a break to go out drinking with friends. I'm wondering if it's still going to be the same fun, enjoyable feeling once I'm drunk as it normally is. One of the occasions is my bachelor party, so I'm definitely going to be getting drinks bought for me lol.
answerig from a different perspective. personally, i didnt notice anything like this, nor did it slow the drinking. it seems to be very independent to how everyone reacts. Some dont even really get the food noise quietening down.Did you notice yourself getting a buzz sooner/with less drinks? Or just a worse hangover with none of the enjoyment?
Thanks, I'll definitely pay attention. I'm actually pretty used to eating zero carbs and protein only leading up to drinking, I always put it into my nutrition app so I keep my calories in range, so drinking when I'm expecting it to hit harder is something I'm pretty used to managing. I'll definitely keep it in mind though! You will drink much less even if you want to drink more, I have tried. There are actually studies happening right now with incertins and addiction. I have been on Reta about month and I'm drinking less but I still like beer it's just I have a high enough tolerance that enough to make me buzzed is going to make me feel sick and bloated from the liquid intake alone.Zero buzz at all - 100% just empty calories that made me feel gross. Being drunk feels mostly the same for me. I enjoy it more on Reta, perhaps because I’m going at a slower pace than before, but still getting the social and ‘good feelz’ benefits from alcohol.Has anyone here who normally enjoys being drunk actually been drunk while on reta? It's the sugar and carbs that give people the hangovers, if you are a mixed drink or wine drinker they are way worse on all glpsFortunately, I haven’t experienced the worsened hangovers everyone talks about. I typically hydrate a lot when I drink, so maybe it’s more to do with the that.
That makes sense. I drink either beer or Bourbon on the rocks with nothing added. Can’t do sugary drinks. It's the sugar and carbs that give people the hangovers, if you are a mixed drink or wine drinker they are way worse on all glps
this. i never get hangovers, but i noticed if i drink beer now, i wake up with a headache. If i drink spirits straight or with soda water, i dont get a headacheIt's the sugar and carbs that give people the hangovers, if you are a mixed drink or wine drinker they are way worse on all glps
You can still get a hangover from just the alcohol effects but the sugar makes it way worse. Wine hangovers have always been notorious for this reason.this. i never get hangovers, but i noticed if i drink beer now, i wake up with a headache. On top of that, these drugs slow gastric emptying significantly, which changes how alcohol is absorbed. Normally alcohol absorption depends on how fast it reaches the small intestine, and when the stomach empties slowly, the absorption becomes slower and more erratic. The rapid onset that makes drinking feel rewarding is essentially gone.

I came here to say this! I was drinking mostly beer prior to starting Tirz in October, followed by Reta in January. I was probably drinking 70+ units a week for YEARS. I don't think I have been drunk in the sense I used to since I started these meds.Has anyone here who normally enjoys being drunk actually been drunk while on reta? Beer in particular has been almost impossible. I used to be able to put down 5-10 light beers relatively "easily" and post-Reta I can barely have one. I had 2 a week ago and felt full/bloated for basically 24 hours. Not sure if it's the carbonation or what.I just get fuller faster. I was at a bar the other day and my god it took me an hour to drink 1.5 beers. I still drink though and I do not get buzzed faster like others are saying.
I’m on week 2 and I still enjoy a few beers once a week. I do drink less of them though. I just haven’t found that Reta suppressed my want to drink much. I still go out for drinks with friends and I have switched to drinking bacardi+diet coke because it is soooo much easier to put down. I'm pretty sure I look like picrel drinking beer now, so it was a necessary switch given that no one knows I take PEDs.Beer in particular has been almost impossible.
