I’ll add one item to the “what NOT to eat” list so you don’t experience what I did last night.
I’ve been on Reta for 16 weeks, working my way from 0.5 mg up to 4 mg. Side effects have been very minimal overall, aside from occasional constipation when ramping up, which has been easy to manage with Senokot.
I’ve been consistent with my calorie deficit and had about 300 calories to spare last night. There were freshly made molasses cookies that I had bought for my kids, and I figured, why not eat three of them since they fit my macros? BIG MISTAKE.
My stomach became rock hard from gas and constipation, and I couldn’t sleep for three hours. I had to ride it out, even after taking Gas-X and Senokot. Everything cleared up this morning, but that was by far the most uncomfortable experience I’ve had while on Reta.
I didn’t realize molasses cookies contain fermentable sugars, which are a big no-no in this context. So FYI.
