Assuming you go in for regular check ups and get blood work done. Do you tell him what you're taking? Do you keep it a secret?

I've also read you shouldn't hid anything from your doctor but when I told him I like to have a smoke every once in a while I got charged a smoking cessation consultation. And put on my chart which could affect any life insurance policy. Keep in mind I smoke at deer camp and when every once in a while when I would go out and drink.

So do you tell them or not.

Great question! Curious to see what others say. I have my yearly physical on the 29th. I know my doctor is going to question my 45lb weight loss. She had previously helped me get compounded triz (through Redrock, until they stopped) back in the spring but I had not taken anything else since I stopped the Triz until Mid Aug. I lost a little on Triz (11lbs over about 6 months) but nothing compared to what I have lost on Reta and how fast.

Same. I quit smoking a lil over a year ago, but before this he said you wanna try a cessation program and I said let's talk about it in 6 months.... boom 380.00 extra for smoking cessation consultation.... as for glp1's when I was down 17 lbs but hadn't seen him in 6 months I just said I'm working out, eating better, watching sugar and alcohol. If it was 50lbs I'd say I'm working with a compounder on sema. Otherwise he'll be suspecting much worse and order 15k of testing.

So doctors in the US and scammers. I'm from Australia where we did have free medical. But not anymore. Our consults start at $75AUD then we apply for a rebate from Medicare. So ends up costing $35-$40 for every doctor visit.
I keep smoking weed and glps a secret from my doctor. Affects job prospects and other things...

If I have a symptom that needs treated, I will tell them about that symptom. If I break a bone or strain something I will seek medical attention. Doctors don’t cure anything. It’s big business and they are well educated but not all that smart. Unless you have an independent physician, mum is the word.

Say ur new compounder put u on max dose of tirz and when asked who you'd rather not say with the latest attempts to shut everyone down.

Next time I see my doc, I may ask for a prescription for orfoglipron if it is out by then in April. He prescribed compounded tirz to me in the past, so that's what I continue to say.

I go mostly just for labwork and will try to get him to order as much labwork as possible, haha. Vitamin B-12, vitamin D, PSA, lipids, CMP, and CBC as before. But maybe try to get vitamin A and vitamin E tested too next time, but I doubt he will.

My doc and I are friends. He was as fat as me. He has struggled just like me. He got my 1st month of tirz (2.5mg Mounjaro) as a sample, for free. I'm thinking I got him beat, but I haven't seen him since March. Otherwise, very few people around here, know i do this shit.
Another friend had bariatric surgery. So glad I didn't do that.

If you tell them you are taking gray market drugs, they can put you on prescription monitoring and it stays with you forever. Then every time you go to a ER or doctor they treat you like a drug seeker. Don’t give them a reason.
Very good point.

If you have any surgeries booked in the near future and on GLP then this news article may be a consideration

TLDR : digestive slow down could require significantly longer fasting before surgery. If the surgical team knows your on GLP they can better prepare. Reducing the risk of breathing complications and potential death for minor surgical procedures.

Probably worst cast , however I would not have considered this before reading.

WAY TLDR: doctors also state that the benefits of GLP1-s outweigh the risks - just be mindful when having surgery.

She knows I have not taken it since April as I didn't get a renewed prescription. They would only renew monthly if I showed signs of losing weight. I could just tell her I found a way to get my hands on some. She told me of a friend she has that got their triz from overseas. So I think she knows there are other ways to get it. That might work. I def want her to know I am on a GLP but not what I am actually taking. Not seen her since June, so things to think about... lol..

Good point! I def do not want that.

I haven't decided yet, my main doctor is maternity leave so haven't seen her in awhile - def not telling any of the minions covering for her anything, but I'll prob tell my main doctor the truth. Also, I'm not American so prob less risky.

I just tell 'em straight up what I'm taking and that I get it from China. Hell, 1/2 the shit they prescribe comes from there anyhow lol.

Same thing w/ my thyroid meds from Mexico. Who cares? The worst thing they can do is refuse to treat you. So what? Get another doc. Many drs. are very reasonable if you have a cogent thought process and reasoning behind what you're doing. You might be surprised!

Tirzepatide. Because that is what I am on.

Luckily my doctor is so swamped with patients he's never bothered to inquire why I haven't asked for a tirz refill in 6 months. In fact, if it wasn't for having my chart on his computer, he'd probably think I'm a new patient at every visit.

This is an article about the new/updated guidelines from the ASA that I found while digging for information on whether I needed to stop by Tirz and/or tell my oral surgeon before my oral surgery on Jan 2. I went back and forth on whether to tell my him I am taking Tirz but then decided that I wouldn't and will have taken my last dose 11 days prior to the surgery. Which happens to be longer than the previous guideline for dental surgery of 7 days. I feel confident in my choice. Of course, everyone needs to do their own research and find the level of comfort that works for them.
