An option on the forum I used to mod on was newcomers needed a minimum post count before being able to post in certain sections. Maybe a minimum amount of days before they could come out the Introduce Yourself section would work? I just don’t get the point in replying to every newcomer with the same “learn it for yourself” responses. It would be the same amount of effort to say “here you go”.

If you dislike or disagree with the way things are handled, I would suggest you handle them in the way you prefer as to provide contrast and influence the culture. This would be an effective way of helping mold the community to what you seem to believe it should be.
