I didn't have much luck on Mounjaro before - I got up to 7.5mg with only minimal weight loss. I am not a snacker really either, so I don't think I eat a ton. Probably just some metabolic damage from years of being heavy and trying to diet.

Did anyone else have trouble on Mounjaro and eventually have success on reta? I've been getting 10,000 steps a day, going to the gym a few times a week, and trying hard to limit my meals, which isn't that difficult since I finish half my plate and feel like I can't have any more. But I've only last about 3 lbs in my first month, and have started ramping up a bit more aggressively. I had a friend staying with me last month and he was on Mounjaro (his second month) and was down about 15 lbs. We ate pretty much the same meals for a month.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, where low doses didn't do much for them but higher doses did, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

Remember that Muscle is denser and weighs more than fat, so if you're at the gym building muscle; the weight may stay the same for awhile until it raises you BMR higher and you'll drop more quickly. Other people have said it took 4 wks to see the downward progress. Do your clothes fit the same?

I just had a DEXA scan done, and I have more than an age-appropriate amount of muscle for my height. So I shouldn't really have a problem with a low RMR, at least not based on a muscle mass. I hope it'll pick up, because it's pretty discouraging, especially when you see a friend drop 15 lbs while still chugging the odd beer and the scale is hardly moving for me.

Reta has been very slow for me! I didn't have any weight loss until I got to around 8 mg ( my current dose.) I have lost 17 lbs now. From what I've read, if you've done other weight loss peptides, then it doesn't work until higher doses. Personally I don't have much weight to lose ( max 20 lbs) so I expect that's not helping! Always harder to lose the last bit! I'd say to trust the process, follow the titration schedule and hope it works when you find your sweet spot.

Thanks. I've been going up pretty quick simply because I haven't seen any weight loss yet. I also haven't had any real side effects, certainly none that were worse than tirz. I'm on about 5mg/week now but will start ramping up to 7mg to 8mg I think and see if it picks up.

Did anything change when you got to 8mg? Did the scale just start moving down on its own, or do you think you actively ate a lot less? I don't feel like I'm eating lots, and lots of times for dinner will just have something small. So I honestly don't think I could eat much less without being in danger of eating too little. So I'm hoping the glucagon part kicks in and starts helping even with the current amount of food. What was your experience ramping up and when it finally started working for you?

Some people are just slower at losing the weight, don't worry about your friend's progress. 3lb a month is right in the healthy weight loss range (generally given as 0.5 to 2 lb per week).

It's a slow burn for me also, I only lost 1kg in the first month, now I either lose 0.5kg pw or nada (I started at 1mg and now at nearly 10 weeks I'm at 6mg) , I rage read posts where people can't eat the first week and lost 5kg 😪

3 pounds in a month sounds heavenly. It’s taken me a year to lose almost 15 pounds. But you can’t compare yourself to others. I was on tirz first and then switched to reta. Increasing to higher doses doses did not result in a faster rate of weight loss. It’s always been difficult for me to lose weight but the difference now is it not such a battle to just stay the course and keep up with the healthier diet and exercise habits.

I have found it helpful to focus on the other health benefits I’ve received which is lower blood pressure, lower A1C, cholesterol values all normal for the first time in 15 years and just an easier relationship with food.

when I got to 4 or 6 I started having crazy appetite suppression- I've literally had to force myself to eat a couple of mouthfuls. Food is not appealing and I feel zero appetite. I doubt I manage a 1000 calories most days, still the scale wasn't moving! I also have a less sedentary job- hit 10,000 plus steps a day at work.

Now I'm up to 8 mg the scale is moving! Went from 155 to 135 ( 5 ft 1.) I've had minimal side-effects too. My RHR is 59 today and maybe goes up to 61-63 just after the shot. I have allodynia when I increase doses but it has died down now. At times I get dizzy and have to eat something or drink an ensure but that's lack of calories for you! Very rarely I feel nauseous but don't vomit.

In theory I should have lost weight much earlier so it's not as simple as cico. There's something about Reta, where you have to get to a certain dose for the weight loss to happen- at least for me and maybe for you. I'm on my 5th week at 8 mg and planning on staying there- hoping to get to 120 lbs without having to go up anymore! The low calories can't be good for us so I'd like to lose all the weight and get to some kind of maintenance dose so I can eat a little more! Hope my story gives you some hope that the magic can happen- EVENTUALLY!!!

Yah, it's hard to say what causes the shift. I suspect in reta it's a combination of a) clearing out the liver fat first and b) the slow effects of the glucagon receptor part of it, which mobilizes more fat to be burned. At some point those probably kick in and make reta work much faster.

But yes, thanks for the inspiration. I ramped up pretty quick and don't really have any side effects other than appetite suppression. But others said if you've been on a GLP1 before it won't work until higher doses. I'm at 4mg twice a week now, and the scale seems to be slowly going down now. So hopefully this is my threshold dose. I'd like to stay here for a while too without ramping up, but I just ordered 3 kits of 50mg retatrutide so I can survive an apocalypse haha. So I should be good either way!

I haven't had any blood tests since starting Reta so will be interested to see how they are looking. After a year of Sema, my bloods looked good and the last few months before having them, I was eating pretty normally. My only worry is that my Creatinine was at 51 after being on Sema, eating better than what I am now. I'm hoping that isn't a lot lower now because I'm seriously lacking on the protein side of things. Need to make an appointment and will update the results!

Do you take any creatine supplements? I had a high value once that freaked me out, then I remembered I had been adding creatine monohydrate to my smoothies, which artificially raises it.
