Curious to see who all here has done their own bloodwork/doctor ordered bloodwork related to GLP1RA use and what the common findings are. For reference, I recently had a variety of panels done (CBC, CMP, Thyroid, Pancreas, etc.) and all findings were normal except the following:

Lipase, High: 81 (Range 7-60)
Amylase, Normal: 54 (Range 21-101)
TSH, Normal: 4.09 (Range 0.4-4.5)
T4 Total, Low: 4.8 (Range 4.9-10.5)
Free T4, Normal: 1.8 (Range 1.4-3.8)
T3 Uptake, High: 38% (Range 22-35)

To me this all seems within the bounds of what's expected, especially being so close to the range on the thyroid numbers. My TSH has always been high end of normal so this is within normal for me. The lipase freaked me out until I read that this shouldn't be ordered unless there are symptoms, and mild elevation without symptoms shouldn't be an issue. Thoughts?

I mean, some doctors would treat your thyroid at those levels. Your T4 is below range, which likely means your T3 is pretty low too. If you're on a GLP1 to lose weight you may want to talk to your doctor and see if they are open to treating that.

Would the lab have a financial incentive in getting you to retest with them in a couple of weeks time ? Those values are so close to being in range. I may be cynical.

I do blood work and have had a value returned that was massively out of range. Very worrying and little support offered. On retest value back in normal range.

unless you have support by a doctor to help interpret and support with further investigation / treatment then IMHO I would rather not know values as it can be more stress than it’s worth.

I have no reason not to trust Quest, but yeah I've chosen not to worry too much about these numbers, my thyroid has always been "edge of normal". Looked into the lipase and without any other symptoms the number is virtually useless.

You might want to provide your numbers to your doctor the next time you see the doctor.

Yes, the lab has such a financial incentive. However, that problem is mostly avoided due to the fact that the lab does not interpret your blood test results.
