A friend of mine does prescibed zepbound. She has to avoid dairy or she gets the shits....any other recommendations?

I have seen many people say to avoid greasy and fried foods, as they can cause digestive problems. having said that, I have eaten french fries with no problem.

There are so many things I don’t want to eat on Tirz. Despite loving a good meat-lover pizza (see username), I have not had one in three months 😢. I foolishly had American-style Indian last week and had heartburn for several days, but it was risky for me before starting Tirz. But there are plenty of restaurants I can still eat at: carnita tacos 🌮, chicken shawarma, and so on.

In general I can make almost anything I want at home with a few modifications. Like swapping in those keto “carb balance” flour tortillas, especially as a chicken quesadilla. Those Costco sous-vide egg bites are now a staple, along with the Fairlife protein shakes. It’s definitely a journey figuring out what our new GLP-1/GIP-enhanced brain wants.

I am definitely happier eating lean meat and veg, those bagged salads, and so on. It really helps with the heartburn.

It's going to be specific to the individual. I have no issues with dairy or anything else that wasn't already a problem before I started on tirz.

I find “quantity” has a greater impact than the type of food. Overeating will make you feel miserable. The greasier/fattier the food though, the less I will eat. I do indulge on a fairly regular basis, now that I’m closer to goal weight, but the indulgence is snack-sized rather than meal-sized.

Avoid big high fat meals.

I'm on reta, and I notice I have abdominal pain for 1-2 hours after eating big high fat meals.

The reasons for this are roughly:
  • if you're losing weight fast, your bile tends to be thicker
  • separately, GLP-1 drugs slow gall bladder emptying
  • when you eat fat, the gall bladder is supposed to empty. If the bile is more viscous and emptying has been slowed, the works get gummed up and it hurts.
To keep your bile flowing nicely:
  • don't lose weight insanely quickly, or your bile might get too concentrated. There are several other good reasons not to lose weight too fast.
  • eat moderate fat, so the gallbladder has to empty sometimes. Long periods with very low fat are also lithogenic (stone-causing).
  • stay well hydrated

Thank you for this important information!
