Avoid big high fat meals.
I'm on reta, and I notice I have abdominal pain for 1-2 hours after eating big high fat meals.
The reasons for this are roughly:
- if you're losing weight fast, your bile tends to be thicker
- separately, GLP-1 drugs slow gall bladder emptying
- when you eat fat, the gall bladder is supposed to empty. If the bile is more viscous and emptying has been slowed, the works get gummed up and it hurts.
To keep your bile flowing nicely:
- don't lose weight insanely quickly, or your bile might get too concentrated. There are several other good reasons not to lose weight too fast.
- eat moderate fat, so the gallbladder has to empty sometimes. Long periods with very low fat are also lithogenic (stone-causing).
- stay well hydrated
