Do you forage?

So, you're Lizzie's grandchild? well, well, well. Let's see... Is foraging related to this? Is that why I don't do foraging? Hmmmm... I thought I would love to be a prepper, but I became a pepper instead, not even the spicy kind...just the Chinese kind.
When I divorced my second husband, my mother asked "How do you want to announce it to the family? Or DO you want to? You don't have to, but if might keep them from asking stupid questions if you decide you'd like to start bringing Nick [my first husband] again, or someone new."

I told her "Tell Grandma, and say it's a secret and that I've asked that nobody be told." "She'll tell everybody in two days, max." "Yes, but she'll ALSO tell them it's a secret, so none of them will bother ME about it cause none of them are supposed to know." "Oh, and by the time they all forget they're not supposed to know, it will be too old to be interesting. Perfect."

I recognize that answers none of your questions, but I've made a lifelong habit of leaving more questions than answers.

I have gathered mushrooms with people who really knew what they were doing. Those can be deadly. My friend lost her two collegues to a bad foraging experience, they made dinner, ate it then died. Please be very very sure you can identify what you gather, before you eat it.
Thanks for warning friend. I am an advanced mushroom expert. Doing determinations on a platform with more than 25000 members. I don't eat or advise anything if I am not sure about it for %100. Also exchanging knowledge with others experts and mycologs. I know what I am doing. It is absolutely not a game.

Formatting this is weird on mobile so if it's awful I'm sorry. I've been getting into plant identification more and more, which has cascaded into me foraging my own tea ingredients, acquiring new houseplants (lemon balm), and adding garlic mustard to my salads. I don't have photos but we had chickweed abound about a month ago, so it was cool seeing that mentioned.

Such a fun and rewarding activity
I used to put away a RIDICULOUS amount of lemon balm tea when we had a few cool summers. This year, something that tasted oregano-ish but which I didn't all the way recognize grew in the spot where I had my herb garden last year. I ate it on pasta for weeks, musing "wtf even is this one?" Finally took pics and researched and oh shit, it's bee balm, which I've been planting and getting NOTHING for several years now!

I quit trimming it for pasta immediately, I want the flowers!

fantastic, I enthusiastically support people foraging safely!

I don't forage for food, but I do for 'wildcraft' herbs to make tinctures and salves. I also make my own deodorant and sell it. It's awesome and legit, not just some baking soda/coconut oil recipe. When Native wasn't cutting it and went full woke I turned into a chemist.

Man this post took me way back. When I was young my father showed me these mushrooms, dryland fish while we were out walking our woods.
Always loved them. We always had some wild blackberry bushes on their property too that I would always go out to pick. No telling how many bug bites I came home with.

I did this for awhile. Raised quail for meat for the same reason;
We tried raising quail for meat but that didn't last long once we saw that they hatch with all their features feathers. Woa, three dozen pet quail upon ye.

Unfortunately a ferret got into the house who didn't share the same moral dilemma. I found this out when I tottered into my room and put my hand out for my special buddy to jump into and he didn't come out 🙁

Been there. There came a point where I was like "Ok, I don't wanna do this anymore, the rest of these guys can live out their lives as pets."
