I just think there are a lot of people not interested in hearing or seeing about chronic illnesses because they are here for other reasons. No shade, but some people really don't understand or have weird ideas about health. I personally know people in real life that shutdown anytime they hear about COVID because it was such a stressful period in their life and they think they were cheated out of time/freedoms because they were not personally affected for instance.

I am not here to stand on a soapbox or anything. I understand it can be hard to take people seriously when you cannot relate.

for some reason I was expecting an entirely different reasoning, akin to an episode of Love Island or whatever juicy goss so tantalizing in imagination be. Alas, the vast majority of those with disabilities that exist right now were not born with them, so the topic should probably be more embraced than it is.

I just got promoted from Apprentice to Enthusiast. Absolutely nobody warned me…

You know that split second when you notice it and your brain goes, “Wait…WHAT?”
A full dramatic meltdown almost happened, but I handled it with my usual level of dignity, which is to say: none.

No time to prepare, no speech ready, zero confetti cannons, and absolutely no chance to organize the extravagant, over‑the‑top celebration you all clearly deserved, but… I’ll take it. 🎉

Seriously though, thank you so much to the moderators and everyone here for being so kind, patient, and endlessly generous with your knowledge. I’m learning a ton from all of you.

Still translating half the forum… but hey, I made it.

And yes, I’ll continue pretending I know and understand far more than I actually do.

I have to force myself to even come up with the little that I do post. dang.

I think it’s important to remember that we aren't all built the same way. To me, a high post count doesn't mean much without quality.
Some of my favorite members are the ones who are quiet until they have something thoughtful to say.
I enjoy the fun banter here and also recognize not all of us are suited to be the life of the party.
It is good to have the balance. Welcome -- keep reading and just participate when you feel so moved.

For people who are less talkative, it can take longer to move up, and that’s completely normal.
But from what I’ve seen, your posts have real value, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed reading and interacting with them.
I hope I’m expressing this correctly, I never want to come across the wrong way, especially in English.
A forum is about participation and connection, but this one is also focused on a more technical topic, so I think everyone finds their own way to contribute.
So I’d say just keep going like this, it’s definitely appreciated.

I guess the ranking system is tied to participation, so it probably takes a bit of time to access everything.
From what I’ve seen though, your posts already add value, I repeat, so you’re definitely heading in the right direction.
